The dimly lit room was shrouded in an aura of secrecy. A group of figures, their faces obscured by shadows, gathered around a long, mahogany table. A palpable tension hung in the air as they discussed their next move.
"It's an outrage!" a deep voice boomed. "To bestow the empire upon such a feeble creature!"
"She's a mere puppet, she can be easily manipulated," another voice chimed in, laced with contempt.
"We must act swiftly and decisively, before she travels abroad," a third voice suggested. "A plan must be devised, a plan that will ensure our ultimate victory. We all know what is at stake if we let that girl take over. She is just a child, and we need to act fast."
“Know who you will put beside her, so that we will know her every move and know how to get her out in time, I don't need any surprises.” A deep and cold piercing voice said, commanding all the authority.
As the conspirators plotted their course, Anya was blissfully unaware of the danger lurking in the shadows. It was a weekend, a rare moment of respite from the demands of her new role. She freshened up and made her way to the study, eager to delve into the documents her lawyer had provided, she needed to be grounded fully before resuming work as the CEO.
Jon, her ever-present bodyguard, accompanied her. As she sifted through the paperwork, Jon patiently answered her questions, offering his insights and advice. They discussed the potential candidates for her personal assistant, each with their own unique qualifications and strengths.
"Gerald seems promising," Anya mused, her eyes scanning his portfolio. "He has a strong work ethic and a keen eye for detail. Get a background check on him, would you mind please?"
Jon nodded in agreement. "He's a capable individual, and his background check came back clean. I believe he'll be a valuable asset."
Okay if that is so, but a call from him to resume work as early as possible tomorrow, and you can send him the details needed. He should first report here, then I can let him know what needs to be done as we proceed to the office.
With that decision made, they spent the rest of the day preparing for the upcoming week. Anya reviewed financial reports, signed important documents, and made strategic decisions. Jon, ever vigilant, stood by her side, ensuring her safety and assisting her in any way he could.
Her tummy growling so loudly, utterly showing its lack of a meal, she decided to take a break and head down for lunch.
Lunch was simple and light, with its aroma wafting through her nostrils. She enjoyed the meal but felt lonely having to eat a meal alone at a table. She didn't realize how lonely it was until now, but something would be done, she smiled.
As the day drew to a close, Anya decided to explore the mansion. She wandered through the grand halls, admiring the intricate artwork and elegant decor. She paused in the library, drawn to the towering bookshelves. As she browsed the collection, she couldn't help but feel a sense of awe. This was her home now, a place filled with history and mystery.
As the sun began to set, Anya retreated to her room, exhausted but satisfied. She had made a good start, but she knew that the challenges ahead would be formidable. She only hoped that she would be able to rise to the occasion and honor her father's legacy.
“Miss Anya”, I stared back, looking at those who called my attention as I made my way up the stairs; she was a petite looking girl, that I can say, and from the look of things, she works as a servant here too.
“Is there a problem?” I asked.
“No Miss, a phone call came in for you from Mr Davidson. He said you should go through the fax he sent to you at the study and that the journal containing your dad's business contacts is also there. You should take a look too”. She said timidly.
“Thank you, and what's your name?” I asked while smiling at her.
“My name is Jane Miss.” she replied.
Okay Jane, you should leave. I have headed straight to the study. It seems my busy schedule has just gotten started.
