Richard. He seems easy enough to talk to. I heard he's a spoilt brat.
"Do you know that you're pretty attractive? I mean I'm not surprised that those men hit on you with your looks." He asked out of the blue.
"Umm... actually I do. This isn't the first time my looks have gotten me into trouble, I wish I looked like an ugly witch!"
"Witches don't exist." He chuckled.
"Of course I know that! Some of my very few friends say that I'm blessed with angelic grace or something but its nothing more than a curse to me!"
"You see beauty as a curse. You have no idea how most girls would kill to get curves like yours. You're actually very sexy you know." He stopped and came really close and I could feel his breath on my face. 'Hey! You're invading my personal space here. And what are you doing pounding like that heart?! Stay still!' He could hear you. "Very tempting." He continued. He is very intimidating when this close.
I take it back. He definitely is a spoilt one.
He suddenly took my hand and pulled me into a street on our left. The Valerian textile streets are always lively, day or night never matters here. No one would even guess it was past 11 in the night.
I spotted a discount shop with affordable rates and headed towards it pulling Richard along since he was still holding my hand. But he suddenly stopped me.
"I can't go in there. Its way too commonplace for me. If my dad comes to know he won't hesitate to kill me!" He said, but matter-of-factly. There wasn't even a hint of arrogance or sarcasm in his tone or face. 'Okay. I don't think he meant any harm. It was a bit too rude to me but he seems oblivious about it.'
"But Richard, I am a castout and I live alone. I live on the money I get from working part time at a town cafe. I can in no way afford anything more than what this shop offers!"
I tried my best to give a polite answer to his offensive comment. I can't take it out on him. He is clearly oblivious about how much it had hurt me.
But I don't think I did a great job on that judging how taken aback he looked. He stayed silent for a while. But what he said after that surprised me.
"I have never been able to accept how people like you have to face the aftermath for the irresponsible mistakes of your parents. When I become King, I promise that you will walk freely among the common folk, nobles or even the royals like any other child.
"Now, you will come with me and will wear what I get you. Am I clear?"
"Do I have a another choice?"
"No."
"Fine then."
He led me into another shop around a corner. Well it looked more like a palace (not that I've seen one) than a textile showroom. I've never been inside such a big building!
"Richieee! You're baaack. I missed you soooo much!"
A man came running and threw himself at Richard. Whoa! He screams gay! The prince looked annoyed and pushed the man away. But he doesn't seem angry.
"Get off me Norman! I didn't come here to play with you!"
Norman pouted. He seems to be close to our age.
"Alright pretty boy. What are you here for then? A suit or casuals?"
"Not for me. I need to get something for her." Richard said gesturing to me.
Norman looked at me and his eyes widened. It seems like he just realised my presence. 'Hehe. He clearly likes Richard.'
But that wasn't what shocked him.
"Ooh la la! Richie who is this goddess of a lady? Is she your girlfriend?"
Then he came really close to me. Openly checking me out. I hold the cloak tighter around me as I felt exposed.
"You're unbelievably beautiful! Literally almost goddess-like! Which Royal family are you from?"
Awkward
"Uhh.. I-I'm not.."
