The Secret Behind His Crimson Eyes
The park was silent.
Not normal silence.
The kind of silence that comes before disaster.
Aurora stood frozen between two men.
One had eyes that glowed like molten gold.
The other had eyes turning crimson red.
Neither looked away.
Neither blinked.
Neither intended to lose.
The wind suddenly became violent.
Trees swayed.
Clouds darkened.
Even the birds had enough sense to leave.
Aurora looked from Damien to Lucian.
Then back to Damien.
Then back to Lucian.
Finally she threw her hands into the air.
“Can somebody explain why both of you look like you’re about to start World War Three?”
Nobody answered.
Because neither man could stop staring at the other.
⸻
Lucian smirked.
“So the rumors were true.”
Damien remained calm.
“What rumors?”
“That Dracula’s son abandoned his throne and started pretending to be poor.”
Aurora’s eyes widened.
Again.
“What did you just say?”
Damien closed his eyes.
Of all the ways his secret could be revealed…
This was the worst.
⸻
Aurora laughed nervously.
“Okay, good joke.”
Nobody laughed.
Aurora stopped smiling.
“Wait.”
Silence.
“You’re serious?”
Still silence.
Aurora pointed at Damien.
“The bookstore guy?”
Silence.
“The guy who sells romance novels?”
Silence.
“The guy whose refrigerator only contains juice and expired pizza?”
Damien sighed.
“That was one time.”
Aurora’s jaw dropped.
“Oh my God…”
⸻
Before she could speak again…
Lucian stepped forward.
“Aurora.”
“No.”
Lucian blinked.
“I haven’t even said anything.”
“I know. The answer is still no.”
Several wolf guards accidentally laughed.
Lucian turned.
The laughter immediately stopped.
One guard even looked at the sky pretending to study clouds.
⸻
“Aurora,” Lucian continued, “your family made an agreement years ago.”
Aurora frowned.
“What agreement?”
“You were promised to me.”
The world stopped.
Aurora stared.
Then she laughed.
Then laughed harder.
Then started crying from laughter.
Even Damien looked confused.
Lucian wasn’t amused.
“You find this funny?”
Aurora wiped tears from her eyes.
“You’re telling me that somewhere in the world two rich people signed paperwork and thought I’d just show up and marry a stranger?”
Lucian nodded.
“Yes.”
Aurora pointed at him.
“That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.”
⸻
Lucian had never been rejected.
Not once.
Kings feared him.
Alphas obeyed him.
Entire werewolf packs worshipped him.
And now…
A human girl was embarrassing him in public.
He found it strangely attractive.
And incredibly annoying.
⸻
Meanwhile…
Deep beneath the mountains of Romania…
A grand castle stood in darkness.
Ancient torches illuminated halls lined with gold.
Thousands of vampires moved through the palace.
At the center sat the King of Vampires himself.
Dracula.
A terrifying figure dressed in black.
His crimson eyes glowed like fire.
A vampire messenger knelt.
“My king.”
Dracula sipped blood from a crystal goblet.
“What is it?”
“The prince has fallen in love.”
The goblet froze halfway to his lips.
“What?”
“The reports are confirmed.”
Dracula slowly stood.
The room became cold.
Very cold.
The messenger began sweating.
And vampires don’t sweat.
⸻
Dracula smiled.
A dangerous smile.
“A girl finally captured Damien’s heart.”
The messenger nodded.
“Yes, my king.”
Dracula looked toward the ceiling.
For over a century Damien had rejected every vampire princess.
Every noble family.
Every royal alliance.
Every arranged marriage.
Now suddenly…
A human girl succeeded where thousands failed.
Interesting.
Very interesting.
Dracula snapped his fingers.
“Prepare my jet.”
The messenger blinked.
“My king… you own bats.”
Dracula glared.
“Prepare. My. Jet.”
⸻
Back in Silvercrest…
Aurora left the park.
Alone.
Or at least she thought she was alone.
Damien followed from the rooftops.
Lucian followed in a black SUV.
The bodyguards followed Aurora.
The wolf guards followed Lucian.
And Felix followed everyone.
Because Felix thought it looked fun.
⸻
At one point Felix accidentally climbed into the wrong SUV.
The wolves stared at him.
Felix stared back.
One wolf growled.
Felix slowly opened the door.
“Wrong Uber.”
Then jumped out while the vehicle was moving.
⸻
Later that night…
Aurora sat on her balcony.
She couldn’t sleep.
Everything felt unreal.
Vampires.
Werewolves.
Ancient promises.
Secret kingdoms.
It sounded like something from a fantasy novel.
Then a voice spoke behind her.
“You should be asleep.”
Aurora turned.
Damien stood on the balcony railing.
Three stories high.
Without falling.
Without effort.
Like gravity had forgotten him.
Aurora froze.
“How did you get up here?”
Damien looked down.
Then back up.
“I climbed.”
Aurora walked to the edge.
Looked down.
Then back at him.
“No human climbed that.”
Damien remained silent.
Aurora finally whispered.
“Show me.”
⸻
For a moment…
Damien hesitated.
Then he nodded.
His eyes glowed crimson.
The air shifted.
Darkness wrapped around him.
His fangs slowly emerged.
Aurora stepped backward.
Her heartbeat accelerated.
But not from fear.
From shock.
From wonder.
From realization.
Everything Lucian said was true.
Damien wasn’t human.
He was a vampire.
A real vampire.
⸻
“I wanted to tell you.”
Aurora looked at him.
“Then why didn’t you?”
Damien smiled sadly.
“Because people fear monsters.”
Aurora stared.
Then something unexpected happened.
She walked forward.
Placed her hand on his face.
And smiled.
“I don’t.”
For the first time in a hundred years…
Damien couldn’t speak.
⸻
Unfortunately…
Someone else saw everything.
A figure hidden among the trees.
A woman dressed in black.
Silver eyes.
Dark magic swirling around her fingertips.
The mysterious witch.
Morgana Vale.
One of the most powerful witches alive.
And she wasn’t watching Aurora.
She was watching Damien.
A cruel smile appeared on her lips.
“The prophecy is beginning.”
⸻
Elsewhere…
Lucian sat inside his penthouse.
His fists clenched.
His golden eyes burned.
One of his guards entered carefully.
“My prince?”
Lucian didn’t look up.
“Leave.”
“My prince, I—”
“Leave.”
The guard immediately left.
Lucian looked toward the city.
Toward Aurora.
Toward Damien.
Toward the vampire who dared stand in his way.
And for the first time…
The Alpha Prince made a decision.
If Aurora wouldn’t come willingly…
He would make Damien disappear.
Forever.
⸻
Far away…
A private jet descended through the clouds.
Inside sat Dracula himself.
Calm.
Elegant.
Terrifying.
He stared through the window at Silvercrest.
Then smiled.
“My son has no idea I’m coming.”
The vampire king chuckled.
“This should be entertaining.”
And somehow…
The entire plane shook.
Not from turbulence.
But from fear.
