“What brings you to the company, dad?” I asked, turning my attention to the file on my desk. “As I said, I wanted to check and see how things were going. I needed to check on how the project I have been working on is going.” He said, adjusting his sitting position in the chair. I was about to say something when Jessica walked back into the office a few minutes later. The coffee father had requested in her hand. She handed him the coffee before heading back to her desk for what I hoped was some work.
“What happened to your shirt, son?” dad said, breaking the silence, nodding to the coffee-stained shirt. “I spilled my coffee, trying to get out of the car.” I lied to him.
Still focused on the file. I’m surprised my dad hasn’t asked what happened earlier. I tried not to smile when I thought back about what the beautiful woman did to my shirt. The way her skin felt so delicate in my hands when I grabbed her hands.
She was the most beautiful-looking woman I have ever met. Yeah, I know I said Jessica was beautiful. Yet, she doesn’t compare to the woman from this morning. I was brought out of my reverie when I heard dad clear his throat.
“I’ll be heading out now,” he said, getting up from the chair he was sitting on and walking to the door. The old feller needs to take mom on vacation and not check in on me. I’m here for a reason. He retired and handed it over to me. I nodded my head as he walked out of the office. I saw him stop at Jessica’s desk before my door closed all the way close. I didn’t have time to think about how weird it was for him to stop by her desk. I’ll ask her about it later.
I got back to the files I had on my desk. They weren’t urgent files that needed my immediate attention. I’d rather not have to worry about them this weekend. I wanted to have a night of fun with my best friend. Drinking and finding hot girls to f**k. Trey and I have been best friends for a very long time. He was like a brother to me, always had my back. If I got into a fight, you would see Trey right there fighting, too. When I needed a place to crash because s**t at home was getting too hectic, he would always leave the door open for me. He convinced his parents to make the guest room my bedroom when I needed it.
It looks like I missed lunch because when I checked the time on my watch, it was already time to go home. I signed the last file that needed a signature and closed the file. I grabbed my phone, put it in my pocket. I grabbed my laptop, putting it in my briefcase before slinging it on my shoulder. I grabbed the files and walked out the door, stopping at Jessica’s desk. “File these papers for me, please, then you can head home,” I told Jessica, dropping the files on her desk. I walked over to the elevator and pushed the button to go down.
“Do you need some company tonight, sir?” She seductively says, batting her lashes at me. With her trying to be as seductive as she can be, she bites her bottom lip. I would have caved, but today I’m not in the mood. The elevator doors opened with a ding, so I stepped inside, pushing the button. “Not tonight, but thank you, Jessica,” I replied. She looked like she wanted to say something, but before she could speak, the elevator doors closed. I heaved an enormous sigh of relief; I don’t know why I keep putting up with her s**t. She’s not that good at her job. She gossips around the office too much. All she does is sit there on her phone and text, or whatever she does on it.
I got to the lobby floor and stepped out of the elevator. I walked out of the front door; I saw my car. Jessica must have called the valet to let them know I was coming down. As soon as he saw me walking closer, he opened my car door for me. The car was already revving up and ready for me to get in.
Getting in the driver’s seat, I drove towards the gym. I got to the gym, pulled into an open parking spot, put my car in park. I sent Trey a text asking if he was going to the gym today. He responded he was already there and in the locker room. When I got out of the car, I put my phone back in my pocket, grabbed my gym bag, and walked to the gym. I locked my Ferrari car doors and made my way inside. There were a lot of people in the gym tonight. All the machines I use are currently in use.
The locker rooms were my first stop after entering the building. Trey was standing with his back to me. There was a flirtatious look in his eyes as if he was chatting with the receptionist. He does that every time we come to the gym. I feel bad for her sometimes. No matter how many times she rejects him, he still comes back. I know it’s all fun and games for him, and he means no harm to her or her relationship.
Trey respected relationships more than anything. He was heartbroken when he found out the girl he loved was in love with someone else. I hated seeing him like that. Poor guy was so miserable. I have never seen him cry in all the years I have known him. He bounced back. Back to his old self a few months after the break-up. But it was still hard to see my best friend go through that. Wow, do I sound like a girl whining because her best friend got hurt?
I passed Trey on the way to the locker room to get changed. I finished changing; I put everything into a locker and put a key lock on the door. I stepped out of the locker room to find Trey, still flirting with the poor girl. I shouldn’t say, poor girl. She seemed to enjoy the attention she was getting from him. I walked over to Trey; I smacked him on his back as it was still facing me. He spun around so fast, almost losing his balance. He started looking around to see who did it, but he found me. A laugh fell from my lips when I saw him glaring at me. He turned back to face the lady with a smile; I pulled him by his collar away from the lady.
“Stop flirting with her, Trey, and start working out,” I remarked, letting him go. “You always ruin everything,” He huffed, fixing his shirt. I smirked at him before finding an open bench to use the 45lb dumbbells. Trey went to do his own thing while I did mine. After a few reps with the dumbbells, I walked over to the squat rack. I grabbed the 45lb free weights, put two on each side of the bar, and adjusted my stance. I put the bar against my shoulders and lifted it off the rack. I took a step back and adjusted the weight evenly.
I had just finished my last set when I saw Trey walking towards me. I moved over so Trey could get his reps using the squat cage. I walked over to the leg press machine while Trey did his squats. I knocked out three sets of 20 reps. By the time I completed all of my repetitions, Trey was standing near the receptionist, once again. I walked over and purposely bumped into him, making him drop his towel and water bottle. Thank god for quick reflexes because he turned around fast with his fist flying. I dodged the blow, but a second later and he would have punched me in my jaw.
“Seriously, Josh?” He said with a glare. I stood there, trying not to laugh at the expression on his face. It didn’t last long before I was holding my stomach, laughing so hard. I caught my breath when I saw him walk towards the locker room. I followed behind him, still chuckling as he mumbled something I couldn’t quite hear. “Why are you always so childish?” He said as we got into the locker room to change. I grabbed my bag out of the locker and pulled my phone out to see if I had any notifications. There was a text from Jessica asking if I'd come over tonight and that she had something to show me.
“f**k,” I groaned, throwing my phone back in my bag. “What’s up?” He asked. “Jessica. Man, she won’t leave me the f**k alone,” I replied, grabbing my water bottle. “What does she want now, more of little Joshy?” He teased. I punched him in the arm before slinging my bag on my shoulder. “Asshole,” I said as I walked out of the room. He caught up with me before I could make it past the receptionist's desk. Trey blew her a kiss, winking at her. You would see that her cheeks were turning a light shade of red.
We walked out of the gym. Before going our separate ways, Trey asked if we wanted to have pizza and a beer. I couldn’t turn down pizza. That’s like a sin to the gods. Trey went to his yellow Mclaren 720, and I went to my Ferrari Spider. I pulled out of the parking lot before Trey and drove to my house. It looks like Trey is going to my place for pizza and beer. I want to say there is a game tonight as well.
I pulled into my driveway a few minutes before Trey arrived. I got out of the car after I shut down the engine. Trey met me in front of his vehicle as soon as he got out. I grabbed my briefcase and gym bag out of the car. I locked my doors and headed towards the front door of my two-story house. Trey shoved me out of the way and walked in first like he owned the place. I dropped my stuff near the steps and followed the direction Trey went. The kitchen is where you can always find him.
I rounded the corner, walking into the kitchen, where I saw Trey. He was placing a bottle of beer on the counter for me. He took a sip of his beer; he slid my beer closer for me to grab. “I’ll order the pizza for us,” he nodded his head. I grabbed my beer and walked to the steps to retrieve my phone. I dialed the number to the pizza place and ordered two large pepperoni pizzas. I got off the phone after I finished placing my order. We headed to the living room to turn on the ESPN channel on the flat screen.
The Kansas Jayhawks vs. the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers were playing tonight. I don’t care for either of these teams, but I’ll still watch. We got comfortable on the couch to watch the game and waited for the pizza to arrive. Thirty minutes into the game, there was a knock on the door. Trey got up and raced to the door, pulling out his wallet to pay.
He opened the door and handed the delivery guy the money before grabbing the pizza from him. Trey closed the door once the guy walked back to his car and left. I got up from the couch and grabbed more beers from the kitchen as he was sitting the pizza down on the coffee table. I grabbed two beers and walked into the living room; I watched as Trey was already shoving a slice into his mouth.
I set the beers down, grabbing a slice of pizza before this fat ass could finish it all. I grabbed another pizza and sat back down to watch the game. Trey was sitting on the edge of the couch as Kanas led the game with a field goal. With only a few minutes left in the second half, Carolina made a comeback and tied the game. It was a close game. Either team can take the win.
I took my eyes off the screen to grab another pizza when Trey started jumping up and down. “Kansas won, baby!” Trey rejoiced. “I thought you hated both teams,” I said, trying not to crack up at his behavior. “I do, but I don’t want Carolina to win either.” He said, doing his happy dance. The game ended, and we called it a night. Tomorrow is a new day. I headed up the stairs to my room as Trey went to the guest bedroom, or as he likes to think, "his bedroom."
I walk into the bathroom to brush my teeth and start the shower. I finish brushing my teeth, turning around to face the spray of water. I stripped all my clothes and stepped in. The hot water felt amazing, cascading down my tense muscles. I stay under the water for a while longer, washing my body quickly as the water starts turning cold.
I wrapped the towel around my waist and grabbed the extra towel to dry my hair. I walked out of the bathroom and into my walk-in closet. I grabbed a pair of boxers and put them on. I walked over to my nightstand and put my phone on the charger. I climbed into bed and got comfortable. It didn’t take long for my head to hit the pillow and for me to fall asleep.
