By Monday afternoon, Sarah became bored. She felt quite silly, too. Matt could have been at work today rather than in Atlanta. Sarah could feel the miles her heart, though. He had just departed and already she felt lonely for his touch.
In desperation, she called Lori. Maria was working this summer and wouldn’t be home until six o’clock. Sarah needed some company right now. She knew Lori would be feeling similar pangs of loneliness since Jason had departed for football camp as well. Lori’s father was out of town and her mother wouldn’t be home until after eight, so her friend invited her for dinner. Sarah agreed, longing for a sympathetic ear to bend.
