  Cassian's POV   I told myself I wasn't there for her.   I told myself I was there because I needed a weakness. Something to hold over Damian. Some angle I hadn't found yet. Some way back into a game that had thrown me out with nothing but my own name and the shirt on my back.   I told myself this three times on the drive over, but I didn't believe it even once.   Exile had a smell with expensive sheets that didn't feel like mine… a coffee I made and didn't drink. I had spent my whole life performing for an audience and woke up one morning to an empty room.   I was staying in a flat on the city's eastern part that was registered under a shell company, nothing connecting back to the Hawke name I no longer carried. Three rooms. It was everything I owned but felt nothing like home.   S
