We stayed in Chicago for a day and a half. Dent packed a few clothes, said goodbye to his parents, and we drove out of the windy city and headed for Hollywood. Our plans were to take our time and enjoy the 2,448-mile trip, on U.S. Route 66. We were going to be passing through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada on our way to California.
When we got to Flagstaff, Arizona we saw a huge billboard, which had a big picture of the Grand Canyon, it read, ‘Turn here. One hour to the Grand Canyon’. We turned and made the one hour trip; boy was it worth it. The view was unbelievable. It was gnarlatious. All I could say was “Wow” while standing on the edge.
