The first thing Chris had done after calming down from his confrontation with Terry was to call his mom and see if she was up for a visit this weekend. She was, of course. Marilyn Daniels always had an open door when it came to her children. Friday night had been difficult. He’d avoided going home for as long as he could. After swinging through a drive-thru for dinner, he’d gone to the hardware store, taking his time picking up things he really didn’t need.
