Detective Robert Stephens sat behind his desk, looking at the evidence in front of him. He’d been over it more times than he could count and had gotten nowhere. He was a small-town detective and, to be honest, he shouldn’t have been devoting so much time to a case that had gone cold, but something about Elizabeth Marshall’s situation had gotten under his skin.
