Daisy bit her pale lower lip, finally undoing the first button. Under the magnificent chandelier, her delicate, ivory collarbones were laid bare. The matcha-green cardigan made her skin look even more translucent, like fine porcelain.
Caspian arched an eyebrow, his fingertips tracing the rim of his crystal glass.
Daisy closed her eyes, the suffocating weight of shame nearly drowning her. Her slender fingers trembled as they moved downward, undoing more buttons.
One, two...
The friction of her fingertips against the knit fabric made a faint, struggling sound in the silence.
The cardigan fell open completely.
The grand chandelier cast a hazy halo over her. Between the two sides of the open cardigan, a narrow crevice was revealed, offering a tantalizing glimpse of the lace beneath.
It was black.
In the center sat a tiny, shimmering pearl.
Daisy shuddered, certain that her face was burning a deep, feverish scarlet.
Caspian’s hand, which had been swirling the wine, came to a dead halt. He stared at her, his dangerous gaze sweeping over her tense form from head to toe. His eyes locked onto that single point—the stark, pearly white nestled in the shadows of the black lace.
He rose from the sofa.
A draft of cold cedar and faint tobacco enveloped her as he approached, blanketing her exposed skin. Daisy trembled, biting her lip even harder.
Caspian reached out, his thumb pressing against her tortured lower lip. He smirked, his finger applying pressure, forcing its way inside. Her teeth were pried apart, forced to accommodate his finger.
Daisy looked up at him, helpless and wide-eyed. She couldn't speak. Mmph...
She tried to shift, but the tip of her tongue accidentally grazed his finger. It was rough and hard. She could feel the intricate ridges of his fingerprint against her tongue.
Caspian stiffened abruptly. He suddenly pressed down hard on the back of her tongue.
"Mmph!"
Her head was forced back into a sharp, agonizing arch. A wave of nausea hit her from the depth of the intrusion.
"Quite the little temptress, aren't you?" Caspian’s voice was hoarse, thick with a dark hunger.
His other hand clamped around her throat, pressing firmly against the center of her neck. Daisy shuddered; that spot was too vulnerable. His fingers began to slide downward, as if setting her skin on fire.
From her collarbone to the deep valley of her cleavage, his touch descended. His fingertip finally reached the edge of the black lace.
Daisy jolted, her teeth clamping down hard on the finger still inside her mouth. Caspian simply smirked, his fingertip sliding over that small pearl, feeling its smooth, rounded contour.
Then, he pressed down with brutal force.
"Ah!"
Daisy’s eyes snapped shut. She felt the tiny pearl being crushed into the tender flesh between her breasts. It was like a hard diamond being thrust into layers of soft silk, sending ripples of sensation straight to the depths of her heart.
A wave of weakness washed through her chest, and she instinctively pressed her thighs together.
Caspian looked down at her glazed, dazed expression. He withdrew his finger from her mouth, pulling with it a thin, lecherous thread of silver.
He leaned in, whispering against her ear, "It seems you can't take much, can you?"
Daisy was still staring blankly at that silver thread when his knee suddenly wedged itself between her pressed-together legs.
Her thighs were forced apart.
Her water-rimmed eyes snapped into focus instantly. Caspian smirked, leaning down to crush his lips against her reddened mouth.
The kiss was deep and invasive. His tongue swept across her palate, pushing further until it reached the back of her throat. His hands gripped her slender waist, pinning her ruthlessly against the wall.
Daisy bore it all weakly, her head spinning. She could feel his knee driving her legs wider. The abrasive texture of his trousers rubbed heavily against the sensitive skin of her inner thighs.
Slowly, he moved upward...
"Nnh!"
Her resistance crumbled entirely. Her face burned like a sunset as Caspian took advantage of her surrender, deepening the kiss until she was lost in him.
