Author’s Note In my personal experience as a life-long resident of New Jersey, most people refer to the plural form of “cannoli” as “cannolis” in conversation. Therefore, the dialogue in this book reflects that. While the origin of “cannoli” traces back to the singular form “cannolo,” I’ve never actually heard anyone use that word, even in my local Italian bakeries! (Most people will ask for “a cannoli” or they will specify a number of “cannolis” they want to order. ) Perhaps other areas or bakeries could be different, but I’ve written this fictional series to reflect some of the local Italian-American flavor I personally encountered growing up.
