Chapter 9
Nicole sighed as her body surrendered to the car seat cushions. Leaning back, she closed her eyes and pushed her head back gently into the headrest. “I can’t believe this,” she said to herself.
A sharp knock, knock, knock startled her to full attention. “Wake up, Dr. Capula!” yelled a familiar voice.
“Lia!” Nicole saw her friend banging on the passenger window. She promptly exited her vehicle and went up to her friend.
“What are you doing here outside my practice?”
Nicole thought about how she had spoken with Dean on the phone while she was still in the library parking lot. He explained that the police did not find any cause for concern in their preliminary investigation.
