Lia braced herself for her visit with Mrs. Tanner. She put her hand on the door knocker, admiring the fancy door, and clinked it three times. After a minute she heard some movement inside and then the door opened.
“Oh Lia, I didn't expect it would be you. I have some family coming in shortly.”
“Hello, Mrs. Tanner. I’m sorry to disturb you. I was trying to sort through some of the paperwork and was wondering if you could shed some light on it. It could help me get closer to knowing who the killer is.” She paused as Mrs. Tanner looked at her expectantly. “I don’t want to take too much of your time, since you’re expecting company. But I was confused about some references to Steve Hollenbeck.”
