“Nick.” Michelle laid a hand against his cheek. “It’s okay. We’ll do it some other time.” She kissed him, lingering a moment before she turned and strode down the hall. Nick stared after her until long after she should’ve been gone from his line of sight, then braced his arm against the doorjamb and rested his forehead against it.
