Vi spent the next hour serving drinks and watching the girls proposition Ronny and his pals. Every casual smile, every heated glance only furthered her annoyance. She had an overwhelming desire to start pulling hair and claw someone’s eyes out. She couldn’t explain this incredible jealousy she felt.
It angered her to see Ronny giving his attention to other women. Of course, she knew she had no right to object. She had no claim to exclusivity, and they had not seen one another all that long. Still, it pained her to see him show interest in another.
When her break finally came, Vi brought one last round of drinks to the table and nodded at Ronny to follow her. He rose from his seat excusing himself from the party. He then followed her through the club and out to the private back rooms where customers could negotiate for lap dances and other services for the right price form some of the girls.
Vi entered one of the small emptied rooms and drew the dark curtain closed. The small room was dark, dimly lit with a red light, and furnished with soft cushioned bench seating. Once alone she turned to face him furious with his outlandish behaviour. “Just what do you think you’re doing out there?” She growled at him.
Ronny sat down leisurely relaxing on the bench and resting his arms out on the back of the seat. “Enjoying the evening. I would have thought that was obvious.”
“Are you trying to upset me?” She barked.
“Are you upset?” He asked with a crooked little smile. Vi straightened her spine and shut her mouth. She refused to justify that with an answer. He was getting a kick out of making her jealous. “You didn’t like watching me with those girls, did you? It’s a terrible feeling to think someone you care for is cheating you.” He said his smile gone and a more serious scowl replacing it. “Now you know how I have felt all bloody week. Wondering if you were out creeping around on me? Driving myself nuts wondering who he is and why you were lying to me.”
Vi hadn’t realized how bad she had made him feel, how self-conscious she had made him feel by avoiding him all week. She hadn’t thought it possible to penetrate this man’s cool, confident exterior, but she had. She had made him question his ability to hold on to her, and it had bothered him. Why, she wondered, because she meant something to him or because he was a man that hated to lose?
“Is that because you hate to be shown up or because you would have missed me?” She asked with a smile. Ronny suddenly stood up straight bringing himself to his full height. He went quiet as he looked at her without answering her. Perhaps he did not know the answer himself.
Ronny cleared his throat awkwardly before speaking. “I simply do not like being lied too. I do not play the role of a fool with reserved restraint.” He said. “You should have come to me when you were having trouble. I would have helped you.”
Vi looked away with frustration, why couldn’t he understand, she did this because she didn’t want his help. “I need to do this on my own. If I let you fight all my battles, I will never be independent and then where will I be when you finally decide to be done with me?”
Ronny flashed her a smile and reached out taking her hand. He coaxed her closer and as much as she tried to resist he sat down and drew her onto his lap holding her close. Ronny stroked her hair and caressed her face. “My sweet, you worry too much about the future.” He smiled.
“And you do not worry enough.” She countered.
Ronny sighed his hand gently sliding down her body. “Financial independence, does it mean that much to you?” He asked.
“Yes.” She said firmly. “I do appreciate your help with dealing with Darcy I do; but when it comes to everything else I just can’t handle being a kept woman.” She said trying to stand up. She knew it would be impossible for him to grasp the concept of a woman that did not want his money. “I don’t want to sound ungrateful. You are so generous; it’s just that…” She hung her head remembering what Larry had said to her, the things Darcy had called her. “People have begun to see me as…” She couldn’t even say it. “They treat me like…”
“My w***e?” He finished for her. Vi hung her head in shame and nodded. It was painful to hear it put so frankly.
“If I keep taking your gifts, your money, and your help I’ll only be confirming what they all think of me. I can’t bear to be thought of that way.” She explained.
“And this is better?” He asked gesturing at her uniform. “I’ve seen prostitutes with more on.” Ronny shrugged off his leather jacket and wrapped it around her. “You look cold.” He observed. She hadn’t realized she had been shivering. She had been cold all week she had blocked it out of her mind. Vi could feel the warmth of his body still in the silk lining as she pulled the jacket closed around her. The warmth enveloped her like a glorious blanket.
“It’s good money, and as I’m sure you know Larry forced me out.” She muttered.
“Yes, well he has been dealt with,” Ronny said. “I’ve replaced him.”
Vi frowned and shot to her feet. She couldn’t believe he had fired Larry over this. “See that’s what I mean. This was between him and me, and you swooped in and fought my battle, and now everyone is going to blame me. I got him fired because I’m sleeping with you. I’m getting special treatment.” She snapped.
Ronny stood up. “No, he got fired because he had been previously warned that if he were caught abusing his power as a manager to bully my staff ever again, he would be fired. He did not listen and therefore was terminated. I run a business, and I will not have anyone screwing it up because they are on some power trip. I’m the boss not him, and he needed to be reminded of that fact. You had very little to do with the matter at all. I don’t make business decisions based on personal feelings. It’s just bad business.”
Vi had to confess she was a little surprised with his answer. Larry had been dealt with, and if she was to believe him, it was of no fault of her own. Still if what he said was true it would not be how others would perceive events. All that would matter was that she had been at odds with Larry one day and the next her lover fired him. They would believe she cost him his livelihood out of spite and used her wiles to manipulate her lover.
“It doesn’t matter; everyone will still think I got you to fire him by going to bed with you.” She snapped crossing her arms over her chest. “That’s all they think of me now. That I spread my legs and you will give me the world.” She said bitterly recalling her argument with Larry. He had been so spiteful that night, so cruel.
“So, who cares?” Ronny said. Vi stared at him in awe, had he not been listening to her? Ronny shrugged his powerful shoulders. “Who cares what other people think of us? I know that you go to bed with me because you want to, and not because I buy you fancy things or expensive dinners. You know I buy you all those gifts because I like to and not because I’m paying you for services rendered.” He said putting his arms around her and holding her close. “We know the truth. Who cares what other people think? Let them flap their jaws. They are just jealous anyway.”
“Maybe you’re right.” She sighed laying her head against his chest and sinking into the comfort of his arms. She had missed him. The gruelling week away from him had felt so long and never-ending.
“Look if you are serious about this whole independence thing I’m certain we can find you a better job than this.” He said hugging her tight.
Vi smirked, she had wondered how long it was going to take him to raise his objections. “And that is why I lied; I knew you would not approve.”
“Damn right I don’t.” He snapped. “No girl of mine is parading around half naked to be ogled and groped by perverts. You’re going to come back and work at the VIP.” He suggested.
“No.” She said pulling away. She couldn’t work for him and be independent. She needed a job separate from him. “I need something where you’re not paying if you understand me.” She tried to explain.
Ronny frowned. “Alright, I don’t get it, but I’ll accept it.” He said offering her an understanding smile. “But you’re not working another night in this place. We are going to find you something better.”
“I have no skills.” She said.
“It doesn’t matter; we will find you something better.” He promised. “Trust me, let me do this one last thing for you then I promise no more interference.” He said crossing his fingers over his heart with a smile.
When he smiled at her like that how could she say no? “Alright, just this but then you have to stop.” She said firmly. “I mean it. You have to promise to stop.”
“You have my word.” He promised with a cheeky grin. “Now go quit.” Vi agreed and started toward the heavy drape. “Wait.” She heard him say silkily as he took a seat once more. Vi turned around and saw the mischievous smile that curved his lips. “On second thought let’s not quit just yet. You need to be punished for your lies.”
Vi lifted one quizzical brow. “Is that so?”
“Oh yeah.” He smirked taking a twenty-dollar bill from his pocket. “I’m thinking about a lap dance.” He suggested in a husky tone.
“A dance?” She purred. “I’m a waitress, not a dancer.”
“We can make an exception. Bring that pretty little body over here.” He said patting his lap.
Vi smiled and did as he bid. She came to him and straddled his lap. Ronny gazed into her eyes as his hands moved slowly over her knees and up her bare thighs. Vi felt a little unsure having never done anything quite like this before she slowly began to roll her hips and grind against his lap feeling his arousal grow thick against his pants.
She sighed as his hand slipped beneath her tiny skirt and his fingers stroked her through her panties. His fingers brazenly found their way into her panties and pressed inside her. The heel of his hand rubbing against the swollen bud of her s*x. His fingers probed her deeply, and Vi ground harder against his hand seeking her release. “You look good baby girl.” He said thrusting his fingers in and out driving her wild.
Ronny slid down the skimpy top she wore, and his mouth closed around her aching breast. His warm mouth and fingers brought Vi to maddening heights of ecstasy. She whimpered when his hand left her and moved to his zipper. Ronny freed himself from his pants and rubbed his erection between her legs. He shifted her panties and Vi felt the head of his arousal against her slick opening and slowly lowered herself along his rigid length.
His hand on her hips Ronny eased Vie down and then back up until he was separate from her entering her over and over until she leaned against him and begged him to fill her. His torment was killing her. Letting her sink down his length, Ronny relaxed back against the seat as Vi rolled her hips and rode him eagerly. He felt good, it did not take long for her climax to consume her. His hands on her hips guiding her motion forcing her to keep moving when she wanted to faint from pleasure, using her warm body to bring himself to climax.
Ronny groaned as he came hard filling her with his seed. Vi leaned against him as their breathing stilled and their bodies cooled. He stroked her hair, and things were quiet as they enjoyed the feel of one another.

Ronny held Vi lost in his thoughts. It was the first time in forty-five years that he had been too consumed to pull out. It was possible he could have just knocked her up. The idea of changing diapers at his age made him cringe. Either way, he could not take it back now. What happened had happened.
It baffled him how much this woman affected him. She made him crazy. Made him think things that would have never crossed his mind with anyone else. He wanted to take care of Vi. To protect her and provide for her. He hated when she was away from him, and he loved her smile, her wit, and her children.
He couldn’t believe he was considering what he was, but it was suddenly the only thing he could think of. Ronny caressed her face and took Vi’s chin between his fingers tilting her face up to his. She looked so relaxed and content. Ronny’s lips found hers, and he smiled at the breathless little sigh she made. He was crazy about this woman that was undeniable.
“Move in with me.” He suggested, hardly believing the words that came out of his mouth as he said them.
Vi sat up and stared at him with shock. “What?”
“Move in with me.” He said again. It still sounded strange to him. It was an offer he had never made to any woman.
Vi stood up and set her skirt right. Ronny adjusted his pants and tugged up the zipper carefully. He stood up waiting for her answer. “Movie in with you? Have you lost your senses?” She asked as surprised as he was the topic had come up. “Do you know what you’re asking?”
Surprisingly he did and the more he thought about it, the more he liked the idea. “Yes, I asked you to move in with me.”
She looked at him like he was sick. “Why?” Vi asked suspiciously.
“Because I don’t like being away from you. I want to go to bed with you, and I want to wake up to you.”
“You understand that it’s not just me. It’s the kids too.” She stressed. “It’s no more privacy. You will have gone from a confirmed bachelor to the head of a six-person household overnight.”
Ronny smiled, he kind of like the idea of a full house. “I always did like the accelerated program.” He said taking her hand in his.
Vi laughed as he pulled her close. “You have completely lost your mind.” She said.
“Come on, move in with me.” He said kissing her neck. “You’re never going to get a better offer from anyone.”
“Ronny it’s happening so fast. I don’t think you have thought this through.” She protested. “What if you don’t feel the same tomorrow?”
“I don’t make offers without being sure it’s something I want.” He assured her.
“I don’t know.” She said moving away from him. “It’s just such a big step,” Vi said trying to straighten it all out in her head.
“Look, Vi, I -” Ronny paused there was a pain in his head. He shook it off. “I know- ahh.” He groaned lifting his hand to his head.
“What’s wrong?” Vi asked watching him.
“I got a sudden headache.” He confessed. It had come on so quickly.
“Are you ok?” She asked coming to his side.
“It’s just a headache.” He said shrugging off her concern. “I like you Vi, and I want - I want -” He slurred his words. His chest felt heavy, and he struggled for breath. He looked up at Vi’s frightened face, things became blurry, and he lost all feeling in his left side. His legs buckled, and Ronny hit the ground hard. The last thing he heard was Vi screaming.
