Prologue - And The Fifth Queen Died

468 Words
When the darkness comes, it wasn't the dove that came, nor does light and hope. It was always sorrow, darkness, and even depression. It was a balance to the light that gives us life, the lack of it that gives us rest and slumber. But when the world decides to choose only one of it, which one will remain more powerful? What is life without the balance of life and death? Of light and darkness? Of peace and war? ________________________________________________________________________ “The Queen is dead,” the dark and heavy voice of Faeric said, his eyes sorrowful and dark as he gazed at the crowd before him. His face was a mixture of grief and remorse, darkness painting his face as he announced the death of the queen. “She was one of our best ones. She ruled us all with an iron fist, with a confidence that none can match. She ruled only for a year, which was definitely not enough,” The crowd’s eyes became fierce and piercing, their gazes becoming deep and dark. They were watching the announcement with teary eyes and aching hearts. “It’s the Queen’s curse,” a wispy voice said. “Definitely,” another one said. “Killing five queens in a row? What did the we do for this? Have the Creator forsaken us?” another one said. The roaring of the crowds grew larger by the second, each becoming more and more desperate. Each had their own theories, each theorizing on how Diana of the Ice died. Was it an assassination? A suicide? A curse? The dark, starless night that painted the clouds became darker as the hearts of the nychta became heavier. There was no moon for today, the skies responding to the people’s loss. “It is only with this, where we choose another leader. Another queen. Another that will lead us to becoming what we were supposed to be.” The crowd’s eyes enlarged, fury bolstering through their hearts. “The evil that balances the world, the night that gives color to our hearts,” The crowd gems, which were placed on their foreheads, brightened up. The crystals that held their power was seeking purpose, wanting to destroy everything in their path. “It is only right and just for us to start it again,” The announcement freed any restraints that held them back. This was after all, the announcement of a lifetime. The games that will ignite the flame and the fury of Bloodrose. The games that will determine the lives of each and every one of them, the dark that lives deep within them. “It is on this fateful evening, where I announce, the start of The Divination!” Unified chaos erupted.
