We sat down at the table again and ate in silence. The food had gotten cold, but I was too hungry at the time to give a care. The vibrations from one of Zion's phones interrupted the silence that hung between us across the table. Zion picked up the phone and went to the next room before answering.
Of course, I became curious and did not even think twice before I snuck across the floor and put my ear to the door to eavesdrop on the conversation. However, I only heard murmurs from inside the room. So, I pressed my ear harder against the door to hear better when I listened to the floor creak from the inside. I pulled my ear away from the door, but before I got a chance to move out of the way, the door opened and hit me straight across the face.
