Chapter 1 Marked by a Random Werewolf

1118 Words
I never thought I'd do something so reckless, so absurd. But here I was, marked by a random werewolf Alpha after a one-night stand. The sound of heavy breathing echoed in my ears, and the sensation of something soft and furry brushed against my skin. It tickled, sending a strange shiver down my spine and pulling me out of sleep. 'What... what is that?' My foggy thoughts slowly started to clear, but my head pounded as if someone was using my brain as a punching bag after a wild night of alcohol abuse. "Oh, Noah, just leave me alone and let me sleep..." I muttered, half awake, trying to push away the source of my discomfort. The breathing paused for a moment and then came a sharp, irritated huff. A gust of wind blew across my face, ruffling my hair. Groaning, I forced my eyes open, and the first thing I saw was a giant wolf face inches from mine. I nearly had a heart attack right then and there to meet the Moon Goddess. "What the...?! Get away from me! Help! Somebody!" My scream practically rattled the walls. Though my body felt like jelly from the shock, I managed to kick the White Wolf off of me while it hesitated, its paw still pressing against my shoulder. I scrambled to my feet and bolted to the bathroom, slamming the door behind me. I locked the door and leaned my entire weight against it, my heart thundering so loudly I could hear it. 'What just happened? Why was there a wolf in my bed, one that was bigger than any adult wolf I'd ever seen? Wait, why am I even here?' The aftereffects of the alcohol clouded my mind, but the terror of barely escaping whatever had just happened made my whole body shake. I banged my head lightly against the door, trying to piece things together. And then it hit me. 'That bastard Noah Campbell, my fiancé, had been fooling around with Ivy Silvers, the daughter of one of the elders in the Silverclaw Pack. And not only that, they were getting engaged! Worse, they had the nerve to lie, saying I was the one interfering in their relationship. Me, the other woman? Seriously?! F**k! Noah had promised to surprise everyone by keeping our relationship a secret. And now, look at this mess.' Fuming with rage, I flew to Laronopolis, determined to give them a surprise of my own. It was already dark when the plane landed, and I was torn between spending my money on a hotel or having a wild night. Thinking of that dirtbag Noah, I decided to go for some fun and headed straight to a fancy nightclub. 'After all, wasn't I entitled to some fun after what that jerk had done?' And then, I walked into the most expensive nightclub I could find. I vaguely remember... drinking a lot. A whole lot. And then... I stumbled into a crowd... The memories came crashing down like a tidal wave, and my eyes widened in shock. I didn't remember his face clearly, but he was tall, muscular, and had a chest broad enough to envelop me entirely, radiating a warmth that was nothing short of intoxicating. I was acting like a total drunk, no, scratch that, I was a drunk, and worse, a shameless one. I had thrown myself at him, greedily inhaling his scent of cedarwood, completely enchanted. Even now, I had to admit, he made me feel... good. It was so good, in fact, that recalling it brought a faint smile to my lips. I giggled like an i***t, reaching up to trace the strong lines of his jaw before leaning in, teasingly brushing light kisses down his neck. "Hey, handsome, mind comforting a girl who's had a really bad day?" To my surprise, he didn't push me away. Instead, he tilted his head back, exposing his throat to me and inviting me to nibble at his neck. His large, hot hand slid down my back, leaving a trail of goosebumps in its wake. The sensation was almost electrifying. He leaned closer, his voice low and dangerous as he murmured in my ear, "Do you even know what you're asking for?" I nuzzled his neck, desperate to kiss his lips, as I whispered back, "Yes, I know exactly what I want. And it's you. Don't you want me too?" Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my ear as he bit down, his voice husky as he whispered, "Oh, I want you... badly." 'What happened after that is a blur, but I think I was carried off, and then...' "Oh my god! Oh no, no, no!" I groaned, clutching my head in agony, forcing myself to stop thinking about it. My blood boiled as shame washed over me. I stared at my reflection in the mirror. My face flushed bright red, like a ripe apple. 'Why the hell did I have to drink so much?! Look at the mess I've gotten myself into!' A knock on the door snapped me out of my self-loathing. "Ma'am, are you all right in there?" The voice from outside sounded concerned. I quickly covered my face, trying to calm down. "Just don't freak out now," I told myself. "Deal with the situation first." "No, I am definitely not all right. There's a terrifying wolf in my bed! Did you see it? Please get it out of here!" There was a brief pause, and then he spoke again, this time softer, almost cautious, "Are you sure, ma'am? I don't see any wolf. Would you like me to call a doctor? Perhaps you should check yourself in the mirror... just to be sure." 'No wolf? Impossible!' Confused, I caught onto the hint in the man's voice and hesitantly glanced at the mirror. I saw a fresh hickey on my neck, clear as day. "Ahhh!" It felt like I'd been struck by lightning. Every curse word I knew danced on the tip of my tongue, but I was frozen, my mouth hanging open in shock. I couldn't get a word out because the truth hit me like a ton of bricks, I had been marked by the man from last night. The one whose face I couldn't even remember! 'That explains why I can see the wolf, but no one else can. The wolf belongs to him! Damn it, what was I thinking? Why did I have to drink myself stupid?' A strange sense of amusement washed over me, one that wasn't my own. I slowly looked down to see the wolf sitting quietly at my feet, staring at me with what could only be described as a smirk.
