I couldn't believe my eyes. As I turned around, the sight of his handsome face so close to mine made my heart sink.
'Oh, damn it. Isn't this the same lucky guy whose password I stole?'
And worse, I vaguely remembered that when the waiter asked about our relationship, I was the one who blurted out that I was his fiancée!
'Wait a minute. His last name is Silvers? So he's...'
I gulped in shock, trying to move out of his warm embrace, but his grip on my waist tightened, and he gave me a warning glance.
I was frozen in place, my mind a chaotic swirl of thoughts.
Suddenly, it dawned on me. 'Is this Mr. Silvers... helping me? But why?'
"What? Did you just say this b***h is your fiancée?"
A loud roar interrupted my thoughts.
Ivy Silvers had leapt up from the wreckage of the table and looked absolutely disheveled. Her gown was torn, and her carefully styled blonde hair was now a tangled mess.
She hunched over, glaring at me with her golden eyes, her fangs bared in uncontrollable fury.
The look in her eyes made every hair on my body stand on end. I realized with a jolt. 'Ivy really wants to kill me!'
A primal fear surged through me, and I instinctively took a step back. But the White Wolf, who had been glued to me, was now standing in front of me, crouched low, growling at Ivy.
I felt a sudden heat behind me before I could even process the wolf's protective stance. His strong arm wrapped around my chest as he pulled me securely into his embrace.
The protective gesture left me speechless. I couldn't see his face, but I could hear the low, threatening growl rumbling from his throat, a sound that sent a chill down my spine.
I had to admit, the White Wolf's protection, along with the man's embrace, made me feel incredibly safe. My fear started to ebb away, replaced by a sense of calm.
Ivy took all of this in, her eyes blazing with rage.
"This is impossible!" She screamed and lunged at me with terrifying speed.
She moved so fast that I couldn't even react, let alone defend myself.
All I could do was stare in wide-eyed terror as her sharp claws came inches from slashing my throat. But before they could reach me, the man reached out his hand quicker, seizing Ivy by the neck and stopping her in her tracks.
An even more terrifying roar erupted from above me, shaking the very walls around us. I wasn't exaggerating. I felt the entire house tremble.
Adrenaline coursed through me, heightening my senses. In a split second, I took in several details at once. I noticed Ivy's snarling face as she was grabbed by the throat, her eyes filled with resentment as she stared at me, emitting pitiful whimpers.
The sound of glass shattering, furniture creaking, and the walls groaning under the force of the commotion.
Everyone in the room collapsed under the pressure, unable to withstand the force of his authority.
The commotion drew people from outside, but they hesitated at the door, too frightened to step any closer while looking down.
"Leon, what are you doing? Let go of Ivy!" As the crowd parted, a stern voice rang out, and a well-dressed middle-aged man approached.
Unlike the others, he didn't seem as terrified of Leon Silvers, though his expression was tense, filled with caution and disapproval.
"Richard, she tried to attack my fiancée," Leon replied, his voice cold and filled with rage. "Right in front of me."
"What?" Richard Silvers's shock was evident as he finally cast a critical eye on me.
The arrogance in his eyes made me uncomfortable.
"I don't believe it. How can you prove it?" Ivy, her sharp claws still pointing at me, hissed through gritted teeth. "She's just a slut trying to steal my fiancé!"
Her words only fueled Leon's anger. He tightened his grip on her neck, pulling her closer as he growled into her face.
"Watch your words, Ivy Silvers! She is my fiancée, the future Luna of the Silverclaw Pack! If you dare insult her again, even with a single word, you will be insulting me, the Alpha of the Northern Wolf Pack Alliance and the Silverclaw Pack! And I will follow the Moon Goddess' guidance and tear you apart!"
His fury and conviction sent a chill down my spine but, at the same time, stirred something deep within me. I couldn't help but want to see this Alpha's face.
I looked up, but I didn't know Ivy suddenly lashed out, her hand reaching for my throat.
"I don't believe it! She's not!" Ivy screamed, and this time, she managed to touch me.
At that moment, I thought I was done for. A mournful howl echoed in my mind, filled with fury and panic. It was the White Wolf's cry.
Pain shot through my skin as the scarf around my neck was shredded, revealing the hickey beneath.
'Damn, that hurts.'
I hissed in pain, feeling the scratch Ivy had left on my skin. 'Thankfully, my throat remained intact.'
Around me, gasps of shock echoed through the room. I could feel every pair of eyes on me. 'This feels terrible, like being an animal on display at the zoo.'
"This can't be!" Ivy's scream was piercing, making my ears ring.
In the next instant, she was thrown to the ground, her face twisted in agony.
"I said, she is!" Leon roared, his voice booming with finality. "And I don't need to prove it to anyone!"
Ivy curled up on the floor, but even in her pain, she shot me a look filled with pure hatred and resentment.
"You deserve this," I whispered with a smirk, silently mocking her as she lay defeated. 'I don't entirely know what's happening, but clearly, things are in my favor now. That's all that matters.'
Just then, another figure rushed forward, shielding Ivy.
"Alpha Leon, how could you treat Ivy like this for a woman who ruined our engagement party? She's your niece!" Noah demanded, his voice filled with anger.
Hearing his voice made my smile fade, a dull ache spreading through my chest.
The arm around my waist tightened as Leon leaned down and whispered, "Come with me."
As if under a spell, I followed him without hesitation. But after I took a few steps, Noah's angry voice rang out behind us again, louder and angrier than before. "So, you really did betray me?"
I thought I misheard him at first, but when I turned to look back, I saw the accusation in his eyes and couldn't help but laugh. "Are you serious?"
"Noah?" Ivy growled, her tone dripping with venom, a clear warning.
Noah's gaze remained fixed on me. "Yes, I'm asking you, Claire. Did you cheat on me all along?"
I could hear the whispers spreading through the crowd.
Anger surged through me, hotter and more intense.
