Rain lashed against the car windows. The sky was a hazy grey, mirroring my gloomy mood. Oh, this is just great. I stared heavily at the dismal weather, a premonition that today's schedule wouldn't go smoothly. Noah and Ivy appeared at school together, as if deliberately flaunting their relationship, while I, inexplicably, became the center of attention. "Hey, Claire, Noah's here. Been crying?" As I was about to put my books in my locker, someone bumped hard against my shoulder, followed by this senseless "greeting." Sniggers filled the hallway. I slammed my locker shut and turned around, glaring at them. "Shut up, asshole! Don't you know you have bad breath?" I added a disgusted wave of my hand in front of my nose. The jerk who mocked me was now being mocked even more relentlessly.
