"Damn it!" I curled up, clutching my face as silent sobs wracked my body. I stayed that way for what felt like forever, until the tears dried, leaving only a hollow ache behind. Eventually, I wiped my face, wrapped myself tightly in a blanket, and let sleep take over. I slept for an entire day and night, scaring Adele half to death. It wasn't until the following afternoon that I woke up, an overwhelming hunger dragging me back to consciousness. "Hey! If you didn't wake up soon, I was going to drag you to the hospital," Adele said, leaning over to check my pupils. "Strange. Your vitals seem fine. How could you sleep so long?" "Maybe I was just exhausted," I said, shrugging. Then, looking around, I asked, "Got any food?" I wolfed down a piece of bread as soon as she handed it to me.
