Chapter #11: The Mecha Warriors

As the security guard with the red tie, leaned against the wall of hallway and waited for his boss to respond to him, he stood baffled at what had happened at the blackjack table. That man, with the blue suit had cleaned out the dealer, quite easily. And it was by no means an easy feat as the dealer was using NX7 as well. For some unknown reason, that man had been two or three steps ahead of the dealer’s ability to see into the future. How did this man do it? Was he using more NX7? Or was he a special case? Either way the boss would know about it and the warriors would reign in this potential asset. “How so?” the voice on the radio asked. “This person was able to clean out the dealer at table 8 with ease. I saw it with my own eyes. Every step the dealer made, he was two or three steps ahead of him. On top of this, I started using my ability as well. And I could not make accurate predictions against this man. My conclusion is that he definitely using NX7, however maybe at a more concentrated rate?” the man with the red tie said. “It’s possible. NX7 only allows the user to see maybe 10 or more seconds into future though. So, if he remained two steps ahead of you and the dealer, then he could see farther. This fact is uncanny and has never been seen before. It would bode well for us to recruit him,” said the voice on the radio. “I agree, should I go collect him?” said the man with the red tie. “Not yet, let’s think about this…do you really need this man when our efforts are tied to Jin Woo right now?” said the voice on the radio. “I think we do. If we recruit and train this man, he could help us with capturing Jin Woo. Jin is too dangerous to be left up to just squad beta. Having a new asset that can see farther into the future will help,” said the man with red tie. “Duke my good man, you’re absolutely right. Very well, I shall inform squad beta. How will you motivate him?” said the voice on the radio. “Like I always do, find out what makes him tick and push…” said Duke as he fixed his red tie. “Very well, the Mecha Warriors are grateful to you Duke,” said the voice on the radio. “Thanks Chief,” Duke said. “I’ll make sure he’s on our side by the end of the night….” Duke then left the hallway, walked through the security door and looked for Keiji.
