1156 Words
“Duke! Hella!” Keiji said as he stood up from his sitting position. “We have the package, and we’re leaving now! Have the van ready and start making your exit now Duke!” After moment their came a crackle on the radio. “Ten-four Keiji,” Hella said. “I’ll start the engine; you guys just get out here quickly.” “Alright Keiji, don’t leave without me,” Duke said. “No one is getting left behind today,” Ricky grunted into the radio. To Keiji, he said, “Lead the way Keiji.” “Sure thing Duke….you got him secure?” Keiji asked. “Yeah, let’s go,” Ricky said. The duo exited the security room and traveled as fast as they could down the two flights of stairs back into the dimly lit hallway. “Hella were in the security hallway,” Keiji said into the radio. “Wait for Duke, he’ll make it their soon,” Hella said. 5 minutes passed and there was no sign of Duke. Then a moment later, the security door opened and Duke sprinted in bringing a chair with him. As soon as he entered the security hallway, he wedged the chair into the door to stop it from opening. “There’s a mob of security guards behind that door and they heard about Jin Woo. I just barely made it out of there alive,” Duke said through panted breath. “Let’s get out of here as fast as possible!” “I second that! This guy is getting heavy!” Ricky said. Keiji took charge and radioed Hella. “Hella, where is the exit from the security hallway?” Keiji said. “Follow it all the way down, and make a right for 10 meters. I already picked the door lock, and its open. Hurry!” Hella said. The three of men from squad beta, Keiji, Ricky, and Duke made their way down the security hallway, crossing the threshold of the door and into the cold night air of the parking lot. Spotting them, Hella drove up to them and opened up the door to the backseat. “In you go boys!” Hella said. As they all jumped in, Hella drove off, just as more security guards flooded into the parking lot.  Hella took the fast lane in the car lanes of the station and no one spoke until they arrived at the brewery. Once there, they all shuffled out quickly and entered the brewery through the door on the side. As they arrived, they noticed they weren’t alone. Another group of four people were sitting at the table in the middle of the room, and in front of them was a woman. She was tall, with flowing brunette hair and dressed in battle armor. Ricky was the first to speak up. “Hey one of you boys help me with Jin over here…he’s getting heavy,” Ricky grunted. Immediately, one of the other men stood up and hurried over to Ricky. They both then carried the unconscious Jin Woo to a chair – zip tying him to it. Keiji looked at his fellow squad beta members, very confused. “You know these people?” Keiji asked. “Yes,” Duke said. “They are squad Alpha, see there’s Mike. They were supposed to wait for us at the brewery and take Jin Woo off our hands.” “Who’s the woman in the middle?” Keiji asked. “That’s the Chief,” Duke said. The rest of squad beta minus Ricky who was still zip tying Jin too the chair walked up and greeted squad alpha. The woman in the front then spoke up. “Beta! Good job tonight! We weren’t sure if you’d make it with just one squad, that’s why I had Alpha waiting in the wings. Congratulations,” said the Chief. “Thanks Chief,” Duke said. “I think I speak for everyone when I say it was a team effort.” Ricky who finally made it back to group, groaned and spoke up as well. “I myself didn’t have an easy go of it. It was all thanks to our new member and his powers that we were able to survive. I mean he saved my ass!” Ricky exclaimed. “Oh?” said the Chief. “And just how did that happen?” Ricky smiled. “Long story short, this kid tackled Jin Woo himself and broke his arm for me. Otherwise, I’d have been a dead man,” Ricky said who patted Keiji on the back. “Looks like recruiting you was a good choice on our part,” the Chief said as she looked at Keiji. “Thanks,” Keiji said. “I couldn’t have done it without their training,” “Well, Keiji, as promised, your debt from the casino is now null and void as we now have Jin Woo under our care. Tell your sister she’s a free woman. No one will be knocking on her door to capture her now,” the Chief said. Keiji felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude and smiled. “Again, thank you. Does mean I’m free to leave as I please? Or will I be going on more missions with squad beta?” Keiji said. “It’s up too you Keiji, you may remain with squad beta. I sense they like you a lot and would not want you to leave. However, I realize you have your sister to look after, so the decision rests upon you. Take a moment and decide,” the Chief said. Keiji looked back at his fellow members of squad beta. The chief had sensed right. He liked them as well. To leave might hurt his feelings, but he had his sister to look after. They all looked back at him and nodded, already knowing what his decision was. Keiji spoke up to the Chief. “As much as I enjoyed my time with squad beta, my sister needs me. If you ever run into me again, say hello and we can get a coffee,” Keiji said to his squad. Duke, Hella, and Ricky nodded back at him. “Very well Keiji, your free to go. Beta! Your dismissed as well. Go and celebrate with Keiji tonight as this might be the last time you see him.” Keiji and squad beta began walking away, and as soon as they were out of earshot, Mike spoke. “What shall we do with Jin?” Mike said. “Once you are done questioning him, dispose of him,” the Chief said chillingly.
