Chapter #17: Casino Capture - Part 1

***2 weeks later***

As Keiji trained everyday with squad beta, he was able to begin to master the art of impactful decision making when fighting someone. Ricky would always be the more skilled in terms of martial arts, however, it was Keiji’s planning and strategy that began giving him the advantage when they sparred. Truthfully, Duke and Hella as well were a great supplement to Keiji’s development. Keiji’s situational analysis while he was viewing his vision of the future became his most contributing asset to squad beta. His talent in this area shined because of the length of time he could predict into the future.

As well, he became somewhat friends with his fellow squad beta members. Ricky ended up becoming more respectful to him during this time, after seeing Keiji’s work ethic. Hella was always welcoming, and very much so the pseudo mother of the group. Keiji, however, was the closest with Duke. Keiji found out that Duke was a very analytical person as well, but remained quiet in groups. Duke would only speak up when something needed to be said, otherwise the airwaves were filled with banter from Ricky and Hella. By the end of the two-week regiment, squad beta really welcomed Keiji as their new member.

As Keiji came in one morning to meet up with his squad, Ricky approached him.

“Keiji, you ready for some real-action?” Ricky said.

“Sure,” Keiji said. “Are we gearing up to capture Jin Woo?”

“Yup, after this morning’s training with Duke and Hella, we’re going forgo your training with me and have a group meeting,” Ricky said.

“Ok,” Keiji said.

The morning passed and the entire group of squad beta sat at the table in the middle of the room. Duke started off the proceedings.

“Today we are here to discuss the capture of Jin Woo. JIn Woo is the criminal leader of the casino in Mecha Station. He manipulates dealings and winnings of the casino through use of NX7. Lately his criminal activity encompasses blackmail, threats. Our sources say that he planning to steal the source of NX7 and try to manufacture his own version of the drug. We cannot have more criminals have access to NX7 and its effects. Purer NX7 will ensure its universal use on the station – criminals and Mecha Warriors alike. We cannot have that. NX7 usage should remain to only the Mecha Warriors as stated by President Fox. This is why our leader, the Chief, has brought upon us orders to capture and imprison Jin Woo. Today we discuss our plan of action,” Duke said.

“How shall we do this Duke?” Ricky said.

“I am sure he has a plan,” Hella said.

“Let’s hear what he has to say,” Keiji said.

“I do have a plan, and what will happen is this. I shall attend the casino under the guise as a patron. Following this, I shall make a scene to attract security to my position. Hella will keep our van running outside. What the plan relies on is Ricky and Keiji working together. Because Keiji can see into the future longer than any of us can, he will be accompanying Ricky to the second floor of the casino where Jin Woo usually is. The plan of action is simple. Keiji will use his powers and inform Ricky of where to go and who to fight. Ricky will subdue any members of security still with Jin Woo. Once in Jin Woo’s office, Ricky will knock him unconscious, and transport Jin too Hella, where you all will ride off to our brewery. I shall then make my exit covertly…” Duke finished explaining.

“Does anyone have any questions concerning their role?” Hella followed up.

“None from me,” Ricky said confidently. He then looked at Keiji. “You’re going to have to be accurate and predict everything that happens…are you ready for that?”

Keiji thought for a moment, then answered. “I am. I believe my talent is best suited for this position. If it comes down to it and we are in a bind, I’ll help fight as well.”

“Good on yah Keiji,” Ricky said.

“If we’re all in agreement….” Hella said.

“The mission will be tomorrow around 8pm. Arrive at the brewery around 7pm so we can prepare, dismissed,” Duke said.
