Chapter One :The Hunt

The forest breathed around her.
Ancient trees towered overhead, their silver leaves whispering beneath the midnight wind.
Moonlight struggled to pierce the thick canopy, leaving the forest cloaked in shifting shadows.
Eleanor ran.
Twigs snapped beneath her boots. Thorny branches clawed her cloak, tearing the fabric as she forced her way into the undergrowth.
Her chest burned.
Her legs screamed for rest.
But stopping meant death.
Hidden beneath her cloke, pressed tightly against her heart, the Alpha Gem pulsed with a soft blue glow. it was warm almost alive as if it could sense the danger closing in.
Behind her, thorns echoed through the forest.
"Search every path!"
"She can not leave the forest!"
"The queen wants the Gem alive!"
Eleanor's breath caught.
They were close.
Too close.
She glanced over her shoulder.
Dozens of torches flickered through the darkness.
The royal hunters.
The Queen had sent her best.
"No..." Eleanor whispered, gripping the Gem tighter."You will never have it."
Am arrow whistled through the air.
Thunk!
It buried itself in the tree inches from her face.
She flinched but kept running.
Another arrow followed.
then another.
The hunters weren't trying to scare her anymore.
They were trying to kill her.
A test rolled down her cheek as her father's final words echoes in her mind.
"Run, Eleanor.No matter what happens...
protect the Alpha Gem. Never let Thereasa Calim it."
His voice sounded so clear.
As if he were still alive.
Her vision blurred.
She refused to cry.
Not now.
not while she had a kingdom to save.
Suddenly ,
The Alpha Gem grew hotter.
Its gentle glow erupted into brilliant blue light, flooding the forest.
Eleanor gasped.
"No....please..."
The light climbed into the sky like a beacon.
Every hunter stopped.
One of them shouted
"There she is!"
The ground trembled.
Once.
twice
then...
A deafening roar split the night.
The hunters froze.Even the horses reared in terror.
something enormous moved above the trees.
Golden eyes opened in darkness.
watching.
waiting.
not for the hunters.
for....
