I took the phone from Sophia, wondering who it could be. The voice on the other end was unfamiliar, but the message was clear. "Ella Moss, congratulations on your achievement. I'm looking forward to our meeting tomorrow."
I frowned, feeling a sense of unease. Who was this person, and what did they want? I tried to press for more information, but the line went dead. I stood there, the phone still clheld in my hand, feeling a shiver run down my spine.
"Who was it?" Sophia asked, curiosity etched on her face.
I shook my head, trying to shake off the feeling. "I don't know, they didn't leave a name."
Sophia raised an eyebrow. "Weird. But hey, don't let it ruin your night. You're a rockstar, remember?"
I smiled, feeling a bit more at ease. She was right. I was celebrating, and I wasn't going to let some mysterious phone call ruin it.
As we walked back to the dining room, Alex slipped his arm around my waist. "Everything okay?" he asked, his voice low and smooth.
I nodded, feeling a surge of affection for him. "Yeah, just some weird phone call."
He frowned, his eyes narrowing. "What did they say?"
I shrugged, trying to downplay it. "Just some congratulations message. I don't know who it was."
He nodded, his expression thoughtful. "We'll figure it out. Let's just enjoy the night, okay?"
I smiled, feeling grateful for his understanding. As we sat back down at the table, the conversation turned to the party plans for tomorrow. My parents were throwing a big bash to celebrate my win, and everyone was excited.
As the evening wore on, I found myself getting lost in the music and the laughter. It was a night to remember, and I was determined to enjoy every moment of it.
But as the clock struck midnight, and the party started to wind down, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. The mysterious phone call lingered in my mind, and I wondered what tomorrow would bring.
As we said our goodnights and headed to bed, Alex pulled me close. "You're amazing, Ella," he whispered, his breath tickling my ear.
I smiled, feeling a surge of love for him. "Thanks, Alex. I love you."
He smiled back, his eyes sparkling with affection. "I love you too, baby."
As we drifted off to sleep, I felt a sense of contentment wash over me. This was it. This was the life I had always wanted.
Let's continue with Chapter 1.
*Chapter 1: The Triumph (continued)*
The next morning, I woke up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day. Alex was already up and getting dressed, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Morning, baby," he said, leaning down to kiss me.
I smiled, feeling a surge of affection for him. "Morning, handsome."
He grinned, his eyes cr crling at the corners. "Today's the big day. Your party's tonight, and I'm excited to celebrate with you."
I nodded, feeling a flutter in my chest. "Me too. I'm so glad everyone can make it."
As we got ready, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. This was it. This was the moment I had been working towards for years.
When we arrived at the venue, the party was already in full swing. My parents had spared no expense, decorating the place with flowers, balloons, and a huge banner that read "Congratulations Ella".
As we mingled with the guests, I felt a sense of happiness and contentment. This was it. This was the life I had always wanted.
But as I was chatting with some colleagues, I caught a glimpse of Sophia and Alex laughing together in the corner. They were standing too close, their faces too intimate. I felt a shiver run down my spine, and suddenly, the room seemed to melt away.
I tried to brush it off as paranoia, but as I watched them, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. They were my sister and my husband, for crying out loud. I was being ridiculous.
But as I watched, Sophia reached out and touched Alex's arm, her fingers lingering on his skin. And that's when I saw it – a flash of something in Alex's eyes, a spark of attraction that he quickly masked.
My heart skipped a beat as I realized the truth. They were hiding something, and I was going to find out what it was.
As the party continued, I played the part of the happy wife, laughing and smiling with the guests. But inside, I was seething with curiosity and suspicion. I decided to ask her better to apologize than to go crazy raking my brain for answers
What was going on between my sister and my husband? And how long had it been going on? Or maybe I was just overthinking things either ways I was going to ask and see what reaction she would put up
The questions swirled in my head, driving me crazy. I needed answers, and I needed them now.
As the night wore on, I made my excuses and slipped away, determined to get to the bottom of things. I found Sophia in the kitchen, grabbing a drink.
"Sophia, can I talk to you for a minute?" I asked, my voice low and even.
She turned to me, a look of surprise on her face. "What's up, Ella?"
I smiled, feeling a sense of calm wash over me. "Just wanted to ask you something. What's going on with you and Alex?"
The look on her face was priceless – shock, guilt, and fear all rolled into one. She knew I knew, and she was caught.
