The sharp breeze cut through the fabric of my jacket the moment I stepped out of the car. I shivered, hugging the coat tighter around myself as I followed him toward the entrance. It was another hotel. Grand as the one we were staying in. A lady welcomed us and directed us without question, like she already knew what we had come for. We walked into the hall. People were already seated. It wasn't as large as the conference earlier, but it sure does speak power. Men and women in tailored suits and elegant gowns were already seated, their heads high and their eyes observant. Not a single laugh in the air. Just murmurs and poised expressions. My chest hitched, and my palms became sweaty. I remembered the lady's words at the conference. She was right. People like me don't belong here.
