“You are not alone,” says Aset.
“Yes, that’s exactly what I am. Everyone I love is gone.” I’m the very definition of alone.
I don’t have a clue where I am or how I’m going to find my family without Cy’s help. Edric jumped ship. I clutch my chest, trying to breathe.
I’ve messed up a thousand different ways and now I’m stuck. Alone. A cool breeze tousels his hair, and for a moment I find myself imagining he was lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves instead of dying for me. The fantasy comes to an end all too soon when his chest refuses to move. Everything is in chaos and I don’t have a clue how to begin fixing this.
