Chapter 31
McKenna and I upright a few overturned tables as Aileen sweeps broken glass. Other than a few cup casualties and the damaged front door, the place isn’t too bad considering we were attacked by a demon.
“What are you going to do now?” asks McKenna.
“Cancel my flight.”
And then figure out what Aileen’s vision meant.
“Where will you go? Do you have family here?” asks Aileen.
“Not that I know of.” Loss and fear settle heavy in my chest. I’m not sure where to go from here. I don’t think anyone is safe around me. I rub my forehead in an attempt to wipe away some of my stress from my aching brain, when I notice my shiny carry-on next to the counter.
“Hey, McKenna, want a new suitcase? I got it yesterday, but I can’t bring it with me where I’m going.”
