“Look who it is! The queen of…” I shoot Ruby a what-the-heck-are-you-doing look. “…of coffee has finally arrived!” She tosses me an apron. “You forget how to use your alarm while you were away?”
“Ha, ha. And don’t let Mom hear you say that. She might take offense.” Especially with my horrid brewing skills.
She smiles big and when I’m within reach, she pulls me in for a hug and plants a big kiss on my cheek. “We’ve missed you. Welcome back.”
“Thanks. I missed being here.”
“Really?” She raises her eyebrows. “Because I seem to remember a certain someone who couldn’t wait for some time off.”
“What I got was not what I had in mind. But yes. I’m glad to be back. I missed this and you guys, and my unlimited supply of caffeine.”
