Our fake marriage was spreading around campus like wildfire, it had finally hit Tyler's clique. I had headed to meet him, I heard his friends questioning him.
"Are you actually married bro?" Duke asked.
"Yes. I'll explain later." Tyler replied.
"Why do you wanna waste your life married to someone." Duke mocked.
"I'm not wasting my life." Tyler snapped.
"I've never seen you be more than best friends with her." Duke was skeptical.
"Because I'm not." Tyler replied.
"Then you wouldn't mind if I made a move on her?" Duke smirked.
I had overheard the whole conversation, Duke was star quarterback, every guy wanted to be him and every girl wanted to date him, except I wasn't every girl. I noticed Tyler's expression change in an instant.
"I swear I'll kick your ass if you touch her!" He snapped.
"What?" Duke raised an eyebrow.
"I told you she's off limits." Tyler replied.
"She's not your property." Duke remarked.
That was the first time Duke had actually said something I agreed with, most of the time the stuff he said was just idiotic, I think I need to diffuse the situation, I approached their table, I had been standing a little bit away but they were still in earshot. I sat down at the table, placing my lunch in front of me.
"Boys." I addressed the pair.
"Hey Sie." Tyler smiled.
"Hey." Duke grinned also.
"What are we talking about?" I asked.
"Nothing." Tyler replied.
"I know you're lying I could tell from over there things were getting heated." I replied.
"Duke was just being a douche." Tyler explained.
"I just wanted to ask if you wanted to grab a coffee, after classes." Duke interjected.
"I...erm...sure." I stumbled over my words.
"Great, I'll meet you later." He grinned.
"Sure." I returned a smile.
Duke strutted off, cocky and confident as usual just ever so more cocky since he thinks he had won the argument with Tyler. Tyler looked less than amused and turns to me.
"What are you doing?" Tyler snapped.
"Getting coffee with a friend." I replied.
"But why Duke?" He sighed.
"Ty it's just coffee, besides I'm married." I whispered.
Tyler chuckled and let out a relieved sigh.
"I'm not going to cheat on you fake relationship or not." I replied.
"Thanks that means a lot." Tyler smiled.
As if right on cue the wicked witch of the west shows up. Tia, she's obsessed with Tyler and has been since second grade. She flounced over, plonking herself gracefully next to Tyler. She rubbed his arm with her freshly manicured hand.
"Ty, baby!" She giggled.
"Tia we talked about this." Tyler shut her down.
"What?" She looked upset.
"The whole nicknames and stuff. Besides I'm married." Tyler replied.
"I heard, you're 23 Tyler, you're ruining your life. Especially marrying her!" She squealed.
"That was another reason why we never worked Tia, you hated Sierra." Tyler remarked.
"Oh I still hate her." She snapped.
"The feeling is mutual." I interjected.
Tia glared at me and turned on her heal. I hated this fake marriage, but I needed to keep my parents off my back badly, all I wanted was for Tyler to be happy.
"I've been thinking." Tyler began.
"Oh no." I began to panic.
"Why don't we go to the movies, like a date?" He smiled.
"But we don't have to pretend when our parents aren't around." I excused.
"Please, it will be fun, besides it's the least you deserve." Tyler replied.
"Fine but only because you're hard to say no to." I smiled.
"especially when you do that face." I added.
"What face?" He smirked.
"You know the face I'm on about, the I'm to adorable to be mad at face." I laughed.
We both laughed for a moment, Tyler held out his hand.
"Let's go to the movies." He blurted.
I took his hand and headed to his truck, we drove a while. We arrived at an old theatre, it looked a little run down, it was still open to the public, I remembered coming here with Tyler to the movies when we were kids, we headed inside to find our seats.
"Really, you fetched me to see 'Killer Robots'?" I smirked.
"Are you scared?" Tyler mocked.
"Don't mock me, I just find horror movies boring." I replied.
"Good thing this isn't a horror movie." Tyler smirked.
The movie began. An hour in I was bored already as predicted but I stuck it out for Tyler, he placed his arm around me with the cheesy fake yawn move. He didn't have to fake yawn, he could have just acted normal, I laughed to myself, I placed my head against his shoulder, I closed my eyes for a brief moment.
"Sleeping beauty the movie is over." Tyler shook me gently.
"Oh. Sorry." I yawned.
"Don't be, we've had a long week and you did warn me that horror movies bore you." Tyler smiled.
"I feel bad for ruining the date." I explained.
"So now you admit it was a date?" Tyler joked.
"Shut up, let's go get some food, my treat as an apology." I smiled.
"Okay, I could get used to your apologies." Tyler smirked.
We headed to our local diner, I will admit spending time with Tyler was nice, there was no denying that, mid food my phone buzzed, I checked it, my mother had texted me. I let out a sigh.
"What's up?" Tyler asked.
"My mom keeps shoving apartments down my throat, this is the third one today." I motioned to the text.
"How would you feel if we lived off campus together?" He smiled, rubbing a finger through his fringe.
"Would that not be awkward?" I asked.
"In what way?" Tyler replied.
"I don't know, if you ever wanted to bring a girl home?" I explained.
"Not only am I offended by that, but I'm not that kind of guy, I'm a married man now, I have to grow up." Tyler frowned.
"I don't want you wasting your life for me. Besides, you can divorce me whenever." I replied.
Tyler moved closer to me, I could smell his cologne, I took a deep breath to inhale his scent, it was calming.
"I can't think of anyone I'd rather be married to than you." He smiled.
"Cute, but can we talk about apartments tomorrow?" I smiled, heat rushed to my cheeks.
"Does that mean we can get our own place?" He asked, excited.
"Sure, what could go wrong?" I replied.
"I thought we could go look for apartments tomorrow." He smiled.
"Ty this is fake remember, this is a huge step, especially if we call it quits." I replied.
"So? We are best friends. We can still live together, even when this is over." He smiled.
"I guess." I replied.
We headed back to campus, I spotted Duke waiting for me, I approached him smiling.
"Can we rain check the coffee, I'm a little tired." I smiled.
"Sure." He mumbled, looking a little disappointed.
I headed to my dorm, ready for bed after today.
