Chapter 4: Meeting Arabella

742 Words
"I have a name, you know," said the girl from the lake, "It's Arabella." "What are you?" exclaimed Jamie, taking note of the pink glitter still floating around. A dark look cast over Arabellas face, "We need to go. It's not safe here." She pointed her finger at the trunk, and it flew open. Then she pointed at the groceries, and they put themselves in the trunk, and it closed by itself. Shocked by Arabella's performance, Eliza and Jamie stood gawking. "Let's go!" Arabella shouted as she opened the door to the backseat and got in. The other two followed suit, and soon, they were pulling up to the lake house. As they walked up the breeze way, Arabella once again floated the groceries. Immediately, they began to put themselves up once in the house. Sitting at the round wooden dining room table, Jamie once again asked, "What are you?" Arabella giggled, twirling her white blonde hair, "I'm Eliza's fairy godmother, and I'm here to make all your dreams come true...if you want me to, that is." Eliza exchanged looks with Jamie. "That sounds like a trap," Jamie said, unsure of the fairy girl. "Whats the catch?" Eliza asked, finally finding her voice. "Well, you'd have to move to the Fae realm, pass princess training, and pick a prince. Then you'd rule the Fae realm with him." "Whats the Fae realm?" "How many Princes are they?" "Why are you recruiting humans to be fairy royalty?" Eliza and Jamie fired off questions rapidly. Arabella wasn't deterred by their speedy approach, "That's where fairies live. 5 princes. Not humans, just Eliza, she's one third Fae." "No! No way, chick. My mother is the most normal person ever. All she does is work and go home. She's not Magick. She's normal!" "Except for that time, we were really late for school, and I wished the light would turn green. Then it did. Or last year before your Dad got out and you were really upset about the dads day at the school. Then he got out that morning and made it to school." "Yeah, but that was just a coincidence, Mom. Come on. You can't be buying this s**t," Jamie exclaimed, getting agitated. "James Gabriel, watch your mouth! And what exactly am I buying? That I'm not as normal as you think I am? Cause I'm not! If I want something, really want something. Then it happens. That's not normal!" "Abuevo!" Jamie yelled and stomped off. "Language! Just because it's Spanish doesn't mean it's not cursing young man!" Eliza yelled after him. She took a breath then turned back to face Arabella. Her sparkling blue eyes were lit up with mischief. "I could transform him into a toad to teach him a lesson." Eliza sighed, "No, that won't be necessary. He was already having a hard time before this bomb was dropped on us." Arabella nodded with understanding, "What language was that?" "Spanish. His father is from Mexico. He was brought here as a toddler. We spoke it in the house when Jamie was young. They're both bilingual." "Was it hard for you to learn this other language?" 'What an odd question,' Eliza thought, "Um no not really. I learned a good bit in school." "That's great. You'll need to learn the Fae language and the four different dialects." "Four dialects? Why so many?" "Four separate..what do you call them here? Countrys?" "Oh yes country's. But why do you need one ruler if it's Four different places?" "Well each place has their own ruler, but with the kings and queens getting older the princes agreed to merge the kingdoms and have one ruler." "So why are there five princes if there's four kingdoms?" Arabella had that mischievous look on her face again, "Twins." 'Oh goodness. I'll have to pick between twins too. What if I end up liking both twins like the romance novels? Snap out of it, Liza. This is real life.' Arabella giggled out loud at Eliza's inner monolog, "Well all five of them are very handsome." 's**t. You can hear me?' Eliza thought. Arabella giggled again, "Mhmm. Telepathy is a common power amongst Fae." "What's Jamie thinking right now?" "He's wondering if he should take his Tio's offer to move in with him in LA because his mother went crazy." Eliza nodded, "Sounds like Jamie. Okay if I were to do this...what all does it entail? And where would that leave Jamie?"
