My name is Jun Hua Mei. In my previous life, I was a model and doctor in the modern world. Now, I find myself reincarnated—or perhaps thrown—into a strange world I cannot recognize. The owner of this body has the same name as me, but her fate could not be more different.
In my previous world, I was cherished and loved by my family and admired by society. But the original owner of this body lived a pitiful life. She was deemed a harbinger of bad luck. Her mother died when she was three, and her father neglected her. In a cruel twist, he abandoned her in the family's secluded forest—a place passed down through generations. Worse still, her fiancé was snatched away by her cunning younger sister, who had the same wicked traits as her stepmother. Her life was truly miserable, and her appearance reflected her despair: her face dark and grimy, utterly unkempt.
"Huhu, I pity you, Mei. How could they be so sly and cruel, like filthy wolves? Huhu... Very well. Now that this body belongs to me, I’ll change everything!" I declared, rising to my feet. I stepped outside to breathe the cold, crisp air.
Strangely, I didn’t feel cold. Perhaps I was immune to the chill of this place. Instead, I felt a comforting familiarity with the surroundings.
Tall pine trees stretched endlessly before me, their branches heavy with snow. I gazed at the scenery, my cheeks flushed and my eyes sparkling. It had been so long since I played in the snow. I ran forward, scooping snow into a ball with my small hands, rolling it until it grew larger and larger.
"Alright! Let’s make a snowman!" I said excitedly. Images of my favorite anime characters danced in my mind as I began shaping the snow with nimble hands.
After thirty minutes, I stood back to admire my work. I had crafted a snowman so lifelike that anyone who saw it would have thought I was a genius. Of course, they wouldn’t recognize the anime characters I had recreated.
Time flew by, and the sky grew dark. The hoot of an owl echoed in the distance.
Proudly, I looked at my nine snow figures. "Huhu, I miss you all so much. And my family... I hope they’ve come to terms with my passing. Ah, why couldn’t I have been reincarnated into *One Piece* instead?" I muttered, tears streaming down my face.
In my previous life, aside from being a model and doctor, I was also a hardcore otaku. I loved anime, cherished my *husbandos,* and adored fictional and historical drama characters alike.
"I’d better head inside," I thought. I was tired and a little hungry.
The old house I inhabited was neither small nor large, just a medium-sized building with a single bedroom, a kitchen, a living area, and a bathroom. There were no sofas like in my previous world, and the lighting came from candles rather than electricity. My bedroom was far from luxurious—no large bed or warm, thick blankets.
"Well, at least this place is livable. Tomorrow, I need to rebuild this rundown house. Huhu, why did I waste so much time playing with snowmen?" I grumbled.
*Grumble... grumble... grumble...* My stomach growled loudly.
"Ahh, how embarrassing!" I muttered, disheartened.
I walked to the kitchen to see if there was anything to eat. Inside a wooden cupboard, I found a dozen small jars, some dried vegetables and meat, a bit of leftover rice, and a box of flour.
"Where did all this come from? Wasn’t the original owner of this body hated by her father and those two leeches? According to her memories, she didn’t have anyone else... Ah, forget it. Since there’s flour, I’ll make noodles. Perfect for this cold weather," I said, taking out the ingredients.
Though the spices weren’t as complete as in my previous world, I cooked joyfully. Surprisingly, the dish turned out delicious, even though I rarely cooked before.
Steam rose from the bowl of noodles, its aroma making my mouth water. Without hesitation, I dug in, topping it with dried meat. It wasn’t as good as the food from my past life, but it was still satisfying.
"Ahh, I’m full," I said, setting the bowl and chopsticks on the small table. I sat near the fireplace, watching the flames dance.
"There’s so much to rebuild. Should I construct a new house altogether? Tomorrow, I’ll need to gather firewood and hunt for food. If I rely on the supplies here, they’ll run out quickly. Yes, tomorrow will be a busy day!" I resolved with determination.
Feeling drowsy, I headed to the bedroom, my eyes heavy with exhaustion.
"Goodnight, me. Sleep well and dream sweetly, even if it seems impossible."
