"For the sake of the moon would you just listen to me woman?!" The woman responded sweetly with a quiet hum.
"Shes got MY blood running through her veins, my blood lust! Why do you think it's such a good idea to leave her with normal wolves?!" Exasperated he ran his hands through his short dark hair.
"She is going to do amazing things me love, things no "normal" wolf could possibly do. Now stop worrying so much and join me whilst we still have time together." Using a delicate finger, she made swirls in the bubbles of her large steamy bath. Being unable to resist the woman before him he made his way to the woman in the tub. Falling to his knees and staring into her deep green eyes he begged for an answer.
"Just tell me one thing, will she at least have a mate?" His eyes pleading, knowing she is not supposed to share these things with him.
"If she can follow her destiny she will find him, but if she strays and loses to her blood lust she will not." His pain was all over his face, she caressed his cheek in attempt to reassure him. "Dont worry my love I believe she can do it."
"How could you do this to her............. your own child."
"She has to be strong."
8 months later.
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you happy birthday to Keelin, happy birthday to youuuuuuuuuuu!!!" The small group sang in unison.
I didn't want this but mom knows if I get accepted into the army we wont be having many birthdays together, so I didn't complain. But she kept it small for me, just our family and Damon and his parents. I don't want the pack making a big deal of it, I don't want to be a spectacle.
"Okay mom, I really need to get back to work"
"I'm sure Damon wont mind a little longer." Mom said looking over at him.
"No ma'm actually we really need to finish up before tomorrow, I will try to have her back soon!" Damon looked at my mom but was talking to me, we didn't actually have to go back to the cells but he knew I wanted to.
I gave him a quick thank you and shoulder nudge as we walked to the cells, he didn't even need to go but he insisted on walking with me anyway. Being beta isn't all that its cracked up to be, I hardly have time to draw anymore and nothing soothes me like guiding my charcoal in the right direction. On the upside I get to "interrogate" the prisoners and handle executions.
"Um Beta he has been unconscious for a while now." A guard spoke in a low voice, snapping me from my thoughts.
"Hmm? Oh it appears so." I stepped out of the cell, removing the towel from the guards hands to wipe the blood from my hands and face. "Thank you George" He's new and still a bit wary of me. He simply gave me a nod as i walked past him.
I soon found myself on my favorite hill, focusing intently on the swirls of the charcoal as they come to life on the page in my lap. I am unsure of how long I have been sitting here but by the time I finished I realized I was in a trance while I drew the face that has been plaguing my dreams.
It has been happening more and more, every time I draw what I see in my dreams I go into a trance, I am unable to stop until it is finished.
In the dream he calls to me with desperation, begging and pleading with me to grab his hand so I don't fall. Tears stain his cheeks, there is something regal about him and he feels familiar. But anytime I reach for his hand he dissolves into smoke, I wake with blood smeared across my body.
I can never remember how I got here or what I did, but I wake up outside pack territory smelling of death.
