I was taken aback by Zayn’s sudden confession.
The words ‘I like you’ never felt so much like a lie as they did at this moment. I could not believe how low Zayn was willing to go just because he wanted our family's business to merge. It made no sense he was going after me when Jasmine could offer herself for free to him.
What he needed was a Roosevelt, not me, so I cannot understand why he chose to lie to me about liking me when it was so obvious that he was lying. Does he even know what it means to like someone?
I’m sure he does not expect me to believe those words that came out of his mouth, but when I turned to stare at him all I saw was desperation.
