CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE JUNE 14, 9 AM ARIZONA STATE PRISON—FLORENCE, ARIZONA Yesterday was a long grinding day. Went to the jail in Phoenix to see if any leads have turned up on the missing statue case or any contact made with Bob Davis’s absent motel owner, only to discover that there is nothing new to report. Then I drive down to Florence for the execution. On the way, my radio is blaring some of the new songs making the top 100 hit list. Perry Como singing “No Other Love,” The Hilltoppers with “P.S. I Love You,” and Tony Bennett singing “Rags to Riches” are a few of the hits that I sing along with as I can remember the words.
