One mystery solved did not mean that we could relax. There were so many more things I needed to know. I thought I knew myself well enough when I was a child. My mother told me she was glad I matured fast. Well, I didn’t really have a choice because I had to work hard and help my mother with the bills. My eyes were on part-time jobs and scholarships from a young age. So, it surprised me to get some financial support in college. I sailed through and my grades went up, as well - got the kinds of grades I needed to win a scholarship in the first place when I no longer needed one. With some of the pressure lifted, it was so much easier. Now I can understand why a lot of rich kids also do well in school. They had little to worry about. Soon, I encountered more surprises. Shocks.
