I bought the cotton candy and we shared it. It was served in a shallow bowl. We sat a booth outside the candy store. We sat opposite each other.  "So how's the cotton candy?" Mike asked. "It feels like I'm eating the clouds. Or what I've always imagined clouds to taste like." He chuckled. "How old are you?" "Thirteen." "What!" He said almost choking on the cotton candy. I laughed so hard I had to hold my stomach. "I'm just joking. I'll be sixteen in a few months." I told him. "Dont joke like that." He said clearly relieved. I couldn't help not looking at his body. He was well built. Like you could see the muscles peeking out of his shirt. "What have you never seen muscles before?" Oh no. He saw me staring. "I have but only in the movies." I said not trying to deny the fact that I was staring.  "It's a good thing we met then. Cause now you've seeing it in real life." "Yeah i guess I'm lucky." I said stuffing my face with cotton candy. Why are we still talking about his muscles? "You guess. You are lucky." He said jokingly. "Oh please." I rolled my eyes laughing. "So I guess you do sports then?" "Yup. I play rugby. And you play...?"  "Oh. I don't play any sports. If chores count as a sport then yes. I'm pretty good at that." That got a good laugh out of him. I couldn't help but join in. When it was silent for a moment I looked up to see if he was still there. And he was. For a moment it looked like he was looking at me but his eyes seemed to be looking at what was behind me. I turned to see what I assumed were his friends. And let me tel you he didn't look too happy to see them. "Everything okay?" I asked putting my hand on his arm. "Yeah. Just fine. Everything is fine." He said not looking fine at all. "Mike! We've been wondering where you disappeared off to." The one boy from the group said. Then his eyes landed on my hand on his arm. I removed it. "Ohhhh. You move fast my man." "Andrew I'm just sitting with a girl and now all of a sudden I'm making moves?" He said looking irritated. That kinda hurt though. So I'm just a girl. I didn't even get the friend title. "That was the same thing I asked myself especially since you just got out of a relationship." The boy named Andrew said "Mike said he wasn't making moves so just calm your t**s. And what Mike does has nothing to do with you." Im sorry but I couldn't help myself. Mike looked so uncomfortable. But I knew I'd regret it when I saw the look on Andrew's face. "Oh so the miss can talk." "Well obviously. What you think I was doing: lip syncing?" That made the group behind Andrew and Mike to oooo. "Thats a big mouth you got on you." "Not really." I said to him. "Just cause you feel insulted don't mean I got a big mouth." I seriously didn't like this Andrew boy. But the next words that came out his mouth really made me dislike him. "Please. I feel insulted just looking at your face. I mean we all saw you throwing yourself at Mike. But I'm sure a ho's impression is the only one you were comfortable with. Im the king 'round so you better learn fast. Don't try to come and diss me 'cause imma put your a*s in check real fast." You know the saying 'and the crowd goes wild'. In that moment I truly understood what it meant. And while he was 'putting my a*s in check' it sounded like he was rapping. I guess thats what made it sound cooler. Thankfully everyone was surrounding Andrew so no one really noticed me leave. I didn't know where I was going but I had to get away. I heard someone running towards me. I was really hoping it was Ay so that we could just go home. I turned around and to my disappointment it was Mike. "Hey." He said pulling into an embrace. I couldn't even enjoy his warm arms or his scent (which was amazing by the way). Okay maybe I was enjoying it a little. "He's a jerk for doing what he did." "It's my fault anyway. I should've just kept my mouth shut." "No it's not. And I thought it was pretty cool what you did. Standing up to Andrew like that. Thank you." "It's a pleasure." I said getting out of his embrace. "It's not like anything bad happened like my humiliation or something like that." I said sadly laughing. "Hey. Don't worry about. Its probably initiation." "Initiation for what exactly?" I asked a little scared to hear the answer. He sort of averted his eyes before he said "Joing the group." "And if I don't want to join." Which I was 99% sure that I didn't.  "Then you don't. Its unlikely though. It happened to me too." I gave him a look that said 'really'. "Okay maybe not in the same way." He said chuckling. "And if it means anything I don't think there's anything wrong with your face. I think you're..." "Bree! I just heard. Come on hun lets go home then we can talk about it." Ay interrupted. I mean could the girl have any worse timing. Mike was about to tell me I'm...well I guess now I'll never know. "Wait! Let me introduce you to my friends before you go." "What! Are you crazy. Especially after that whole episode." "Ya. She's not doing that." Ay said pulling my hand hard and pulling me away from Mike who sadly waved.                                                                                           ♧ We got to Ay's house just before midnight. Her curfew. It didn't really matter though because her parents weren't home yet. I didn't have pajamas so I wore Ay's. We decided to abandon the bed and sleep on the floor. We slept on top of four blankets and used the duvet as the top blanket.  "Today was hectic." I said. "Yeah. I heard about Andrew. Sorry he's a jerk." "It's okay." "No not really." She said threw a yawn. She was falling asleep.  "Ay?" I asked after it was quiet for a moment. She was asleep. "I know you're sleeping but I am so happy you are my best friend and I can't wait to go to the same school as you. I don't think I'd be able to get through half of the things I get through without you. I hope we never lose our connection. Sweet dreams."
