"Yarrow..."
My name echoed into my ears and interrupted my thoughts. I never thought I'd ever dream again. It was such a strange feeling, like walking underwater. A hammer-like headache soon hit me in my head. It looks like I forgot to take painkillers before sleeping.
I sensed the sun slowly flooded the room. The curtains didn't do much to block the warm beams from my face. Everything around me was white. I could barely make out the outline of a figure I knew all too well.
"Chrysanthemum, when will you hand me the seal?"
"Please would have been nice, Or maybe a f*****g good morning? That would be better, right?"
I turned my head towards the direction of his voice. It was slightly deep yet soothing. He reminded me of peppermint tea. If only his face or personality matched it.
"Chysan, hand me the seal."
I held out my hand in front of me and waited until the cool touch of metal and glass met my palm.
"You're no fun to tease, you know. How does Azalea do it?"."
I put on the seal in silence as I ignored his sarcastic remarks. The seal seemed to be weaker than before. After placing them on top of my nose and behind my ears, I braced myself for the pain. My eyes throbbed under my lids before I could drink the painkillers Chysan gave me. My sight slowly filled with grey shadows. Then, like an ink, color slowly seeped into my field of vision. It took some time for the blurry outlines in the room to finally focus.
"All better now?"
I turned to Chrysan. His short, dark black curls were slicked back with gel. His deep blue eyes were sealed behind glasses, similar to mine. Unlike me, his vision was almost too perfect. He had an oval-shaped face with a sharp jawline and a scar that created a gab on his thick eyebrow over his left eye. His skin tone was as tan as mine. We were identical.
"Yes. Is Azalea awake?"
"Yup, that crazy brat is always up early."
I glared at him. His filthy mouth contradicts his entire personality. Chrysanthemum is the "mom" amongst us siblings. He wasn't born first, but his obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) makes him an enthusiastic clean freak.
"Now get your fatass out of bed. And make your bed already!"
His demands are exhausting, but there are no reasons to object. My messy room must have bothered him a lot, yet he still helped me wake up and resisted cleaning it for me. It looks like last night's trip didn't go as planned. After getting dressed, I observed my reflection at the other end of the brightly lit hallway. I stood in front of my opened door while deep in thought.
Azalea always tells me that my eyes were purple whenever I took my glasses off. She says that I had an oval face, with big soft lips and almond eyes. To her, my skin tone was so dark, that It looked as blue as the midnight sky. In her eyes, such a tone always made me stand out beautifully.
With the seal on, my reflection showed me golden brown hair, the same color as my eyes. My hair had natural loose curls that were brown in color. My skin tone was slightly tanned. The seal I wear, which looks similar to reading glasses, tailors my looks to fit in with the native clans living in the city.
The purpose of the seal was to seal our abilities, change our looks, and act as smartphones. Chrysanthemum and Azalea both wear different versions of the seal. In Chrysan's case, the seal he wears only changes his skin tone while Azalea hides her eyes. All three of us change our hair color to a normal solid shade.
The only thing that we all couldn't change is our heights. I was tall, around six foot one. Chrysanthemum and I are identical, so our heights are similar; however, he is five inches taller. Even though I'm older than him, his height matched his position as our guardian in our small family.
Suddenly, Azalea loudly sings a greeting.
"GOOOOOD MOOOORNING DUMBASS!!!"
Her presence was anything but pleasant. She always seems to drain the life out of me, especially when she forgets to wear her seal. My mood brightened slightly when I noticed the glasses she was wearing. I merely nodded in response to her insult.
"A normal greeting would be nice every once in a while."
"Why don't you greet me normally since you are aware of how rude you were?"
"Nah, too much work."
She throws one of her most adorable smiles at me before flipping me off and escaping to the kitchen. That two-faced brat really knows how to act. I chased after her. She was almost within my reach, but that cunning little s**t turned the corner and raced down the stairs. My socks made it impossible to turn, so I ended up crashing into the mirror at the end of the hallway. The mirror didn't break, but I noticed a c***k in my glasses. My sight began to blur until all I saw were grey shadows. Amused by my fall, Azalea laughed at my horrible landing and took a picture of me with her phone before racing back down the stairs.
"Chrysanthemum~, Yarrow needs help! Kekekekeke!"
I blindly chased after her while readying my fists, but I ended up tripping on the stairs and almost fell face first. Chrysan caught me before the fall did any real damage.
"At least let me hit her! She even took a picture!"
"It's not worth it. Let it go."
Chrysanthemum always spoils her to death. He treated her like a child, and she acted like one in turn. In exception, her creepy laugh differs from her childish behavior. I furrowed my brows in frustration.
"Yarrow, calm down. You're lucky that I just finished cooking, or else I would have left you there. Let's go eat breakfast."
Chrysanthemum dragged me down the stairs and to the kitchen table. He took my glasses off before handing me my food. I felt around for my daily orange juice cup and drank it as I waited for my glasses to be fixed. I don't know exactly what it looks like when he fixes them, but I know that he needs to take his glasses off before fixing them. Azalea told me once that light flashes while magic equations form around his hands. She describes it very dramatically, but I have to rely on her sharp sight at times like these.
Compared to us, Azalea seemed like a different breed. Her looks matched the beauty standards of the Solar kingdom. She had pale skin and short straight black hair. Her face had a small oval shape. She was small in height with a lean muscular build. She had a cute little nose with big round eyes. Her lips were neither too big nor too small. On the other hand, her eyes were considered strange. Her left one was red, and her right one was green. She relies on the seal to change her eye color, but that isn't the only reason she needs them.
The world we live in hates our kind.
