Chapter Seventeen Warwick stood proudly next to his sister, greeting guests as they came into the ball. The dinner he had hosted beforehand had gone well. He’d been careful to invite people Margaret had met before and felt comfortable with, including the Duchess of Kendell. Still, he was keeping his fingers crossed and relying on Margaret’s lifelong training to get her through the rest of the evening. They had been standing welcoming guests for perhaps three-quarters of an hour when a footman slid in behind him and said very quietly, “Your Grace, the prince has arrived.” Margaret swung around, her eyes wide. “The prince?” she whispered. She turned and looked at Warwick. “Did you invite the prince?” Warwick could only shake his head. “No, but we’re certainly not going to turn him away.
