Mila “Why are you all silent?” David asks, with both our lunches. “Okay, no smacking you on the head today!” I tell him as I see that he’s got exactly what I’d eat: a meatball sandwich. “Aunt Evelyn had it separated for you already. She told the staff to give it to me when I got in line. She texted me earlier today to give me a heads-up”, David says, laughing a little. “Well, that was cheating, then. You really deserve some smacking”, I tell him, to which he instantly protects his head and replies, “Hey! I got you what you wanted to eat. You never told me I was the one who had to choose it.” Everyone laughs and the atmosphere seems to be lighter now. “Okay, Dave. Finish lunch, and then we can discuss how we’ll help Mila with her bag and books for the next couple of weeks”, Milo says.
