Xavier POV
I close the door to the hotel and turn, only to see my mate frozen in the hall!
"What’s wrong!?" I say concerned looking around the empty hall!
"I can smell her! She is close!" Esme says!
She looks so distant as she sniffs the air! I too inhale a scent! Ahh Lavender... my mates scent! But a second smell starts to tingle my nose! I sniff again! It’s a floral odor! Roses!
It’s very faint! I would have passed it off!
Is this what’s been driving my mate crazy! Is this her "mate!" Thinking those words makes my wolf growl! But she’s mine, she can’t have a mate! Can she!? I got to find out what this is all about!
"Let’s grab the elevator!" I say pushing the down button!
"Oh my god, there’s no time!" I hear Esme say as her voice sounds concerning!
I feel the sense of danger too, but before I can stop her, she takes off running down the stairs!
"Esme!" I scream running after her! I can’t let any harm come to my mate! I got to catch up!
Rag starts to form in my eyes! Why can’t she wait for me! She is going to get it when this is over!
I see Esme skip a few steps! She is almost to the door! My heart skips a beat!
"Esme you better f*****g wait!" I say as I jump down a whole flight of stairs! I reach her just as she is about to open the door outside! "Stop Esme!" I see her eyes all black no longer her beautiful emerald color!
She's sniffing the air ready to attack! I can smell it too the strong aroma of lavender but the stronger smell of roses! The other woman! She’s close!
"Xavier let go! I must find her!" I see my mate’s eyes enraged! Just like mine were the day I found her almost dead! I know there is nothing I can do! She’s made her mind up! She is going weather I like it or not!
"Just stop taking off without me! I need to protect you! You’re my everything Esme... I"
She stops me and gives me a kiss on the lips! "I'm sorry! I just can't think straight! I wont take off again without you!"
I let go of her hand as I follow her through the door into the alley way!
Esmeralda POV
I thought the fresh air would be so refreshing! But I was wrong! All I could smell was her scent! Well that and my mates musky scent! I sniff the air again! Her scent is stronger!! I feel like I'm in a field of roses!
"Where is she!" I hear my inner wolf yell!
The scent is stronger down that alleyway! She must of ran that way! I go to move only to stop and gasp!
I paused only for a minute as I spotted something familiar! A bloody hand print! It’s hers and its fresh!
Xavier is already there! He already sees what I see! His wolf growls loudly as he gets in front of me!
"I'm going first!" He growls!
"Xavier..." I try to stop him! He turns and his wolf snarls at me before I could finish!
"I protect what is mine!" He says!
I don't protest instead I grab his hand as we make our way down a side alley way!
"I can smell her scent too!" Xavier says calmer! "I will help you trace her down, but please Esme stay behind me! I can’t have anything happen to you!"
A few minutes later we are in a clearing by the water’s edge! The smell of the ocean and roses fill the air! She's here on the beach!! That must be why there were waves in my dream!
Suddenly I see him! Not her but him!! The guy from my dreams! I stop and Xavier looks at me concerned!
"What's wrong!?" Xavier stares at me concerned
"That's the guy from my dream I say!"
"Stay close!" Xavier demands!
"Not until I find her!" I say
"We will find her! But I can’t lose you while finding her babe! Please stay close to me!" I feel him pleading with every ounce of life in him!
I nod in agreement and take his hand as we start walking towards the guy!
