Dominos POV  “So what do you want to major in? It’s okay if you don’t know now. But have you at least thought about it?” My guidance counselor asked me. Today was the day that I finally chose what I wanted to do. Still, I had no idea. I knew I could take my general ed’s now but still, I would eventually have to choose. “You know you’re really smart both you and miss Edwards. You both could probably test out of gen ed’s and get a head start on your major. Honestly, I would recommend taking the test anyway.” He continued to speak.  “I wouldn’t mind taking the test, I just feel so lost on what I should do.” I sighed and leaned forward onto his desk. I couldn’t sleep last night. The combination of thinking about my parents, school, and this mystery woman was driving me insane. Never would I have imagined being attracted to a girl like this.  He laughed at my dramatic display and placed his hand on my shoulder. “Well for what it’s worth maybe you should look into our drama majors. You’re so dramatic I mean you can always choose a different major later. I mean it’s not like you’re making a decision that’ll define the rest of your life.” The last part he said sarcastically. “Look, what do you love to do?” I sat back and thought about myself. Even though my parents said I will be a doctor and it seemed to be drilled into my head that I will be. I couldn’t deny I loved helping people. However, I didn’t want to be the type of doctor they wanted me to be. I didn’t want to be in a profession just because it looked better than the other. “I want to help people. More like fix people, make people feel better than they did before.” I said without hesitation.  “Hmm, well of course you could become a medical doctor but something tells me that’s not what you want. Have you thought about being a sports doctor?” He said  “Sports? Surrounded by men and arrogance? No thanks… no offense of course.” I spat back at him.  He laughed “None taken? I guess? I mean there is another gender you haven’t considered. I mean why do you hate sports so much? Bad ex-boyfriend let me guess?” “You know, for a guidance counselor, I would think you were stalking me. You’re good. You’re right. I don’t know, I guess I assumed they are all the same. I never looked at the sport itself.”  “Hey, it's my job to guide you. So I have to be able to read people. A gift and a curse really. We can get into the details or not. Either way, I think you should try it out. There’s a seminar tonight, just go and if you hate it we can figure out something else. But something tells me you’ll like it.” He said smiling in his chair. I didn’t know much about sports. I just knew Jocari was a narcissistic piece of work and just assumed they were all like that. Never even considered going to the girl’s games or even having an interaction with them.  “I guess you don’t know until you try. I’ll go tonight. What time is it at and where is it? I’m still figuring out my way around here. This campus is huge.”  “Well you’re in luck, we have a pre-private orientation tour for you. And guess what? It’s with our Dean’s daughter. So if you hit it off well with her you’ll have a huge connection here.”  I looked at him confused. ‘Why do I need connections?’ I thought to myself. “What does it matter if I have connections here? My grades should speak for themselves. I understand internships and scholarships are needed. But why do I need to know the top people?” I questioned.  “Do you know how hard it is to get into this school? We are the second-ranked school in America. Not just for academics. Sports and art are also at the top. The majority of our students alone just from graduating here can get a job within a fortune five hundred company just by graduating here. Now imagine if you had the grades and graduated top of your class. You can land in the top fifty of a fortune five hundred or top medical schools. Now imagine having connections to one of the richest families in the world. Not just America, the entire world. There’s nothing you can’t do or no job you can’t have. Remember that. It’s not always about what you know. Sometimes it’s about who you know.” He said as seriously as he could. He has some points. Instead of funding my practice, I could have it funded for me by fundraising. It could be the difference in my career, good or bad.  He was about to continue to speak when a soft knocking sound came upon his door. “That must be her now. Come in.” He spoke to the stranger behind the door. I stood up from my chair to be greeted by a beautiful woman. Jeez, are all the girls here this pretty? Her eyes were filled with mischievousness and power in her brown eyes. She was slim, very slim with an hourglass shape. She moved flawlessly over to me and my counselor. She had to model because she had a walk that was made for a high-end runway.  “Sorry, I’m a little late. Me and my mom just got back from lunch.” She smiled at my counselor and my counselor slightly blushed at her. So I’m not the only one who thinks she’s crazy beautiful too huh?  “No worries at all. This is one of the two ladies you will be showing around campus today. Thank you so much for doing this for them by the way. I appreciate it.” He said, smirking at her. Oh, he likes her, likes her. Or maybe just like anyone with eyes that aren’t blind to the fact she is pretty.  “No problem at all.” She said, smiling towards me.  “I’m back! So what did you pick for your major Pookie? Or did you not figure that part yet..” Alexis said, joining us into the room. “Oh, who is this?” She said in a seductive manner. It’s only been two seconds and Alexis was hot on this lady's trail before knowing her name.  She was flattered obviously because she playfully chuckled at Alexis. “Let me introduce myself then. My name is Ariel Jackson. I’m a senior here receiving my degrees in Drama and Directing Production. I’ll be graduating this May. But that’s enough of me I’m sure you’ll ask more later.” Cocky much? I couldn’t help but think that by the way, she said it. I knew she was pretty but if her personality was ugly then ultimately she was ugly to me.  Alexis quickly stole her attention, “My name is Alexis Edwards nice to meet you. I’ve decided that my majors will be Journalism and Law. I want to potentially follow in my parent's footsteps or maybe not. I guess I’ll find out later.” She said shaking her hand not breaking eye contact. Oh man, no one can stop Alexis when she’s found prey. She’s such a womanizer but at least she knows it. She was staring deeply into her eyes with a quick game of seduction. My counselor cleared his throat to clear the air of their s****l tension.  She turned to me “Right, and what’s your name?”  “Hi, um my name is Domino, Domino Lockhart. I really don’t know what I want to do as my major. But it’ll be something with medicine that’s for sure.” I said. Her smile slowly changed to a straight face. She suddenly became unreadable. However, her eyes turned into a venomous glare as if I offended her.  “Okay… well, let’s get on with the tour..” said walking out the office leading us to the tour.  I didn’t understand what I did. Was it because I was an undecided major? Maybe she thought I was average looking and not as fine as Alexis? Maybe because I didn’t flirt with her? I had no clue at this point. That look she gave me, made it seem as if I stole her pet or something. Alexis walked behind me and whispered to me as we were following Ariel out, “Damn domino what did you do?” I honestly had no clue. All I did was say my name. “I have no clue at all.” I sighed and we started the tour.  *** The tour was beautiful. There were so many trees and buildings it was like a dream. This school had everything and anything you could think of.  Artrooms were accessible to everyone. Beautiful huge labs that I couldn’t wait to spend my time in. State-of-the-art computer and media rooms filled with the top gear which got Alexis excited. Ironically the building was named after her family called the Edwards Media building. She took a few pictures in front of it. We went everywhere around campus. I can see why most students were in shape because the campus was huge. During the entire tour, Ariel continued to flirt with Alexis and still was cold towards me. She was answering my questions but only the basic needs of the questions. Alexis started to take notice of it and started to get slightly annoyed. I would look at her letting her know it’s fine but still this is Alexis we are talking about. She doesn’t care about me saying it’s fine.  We had made it to our last stops which were the football and basketball practice areas. The football field was ridiculously huge. It had several seating areas as if it was where they played. Ariel explained that clubs also use this field for games and Intramural sports. We finally walked into the gymnasium for basketball. And wow it was huge.  I looked around in awe. “Wow, it’s amazing here,” I said walking on the court. The gym had bright lights that mainly focused on the court. It was beautiful in a way. That made you feel like you were the star. “Yeah, well the men’s and women’s basketball team are the best teams in the nation. Our women’s team won the national championship last semester. Led by their freshman captain.” She replied.  “That’s amazing. She must be an amazing player. To be a freshman and a captain is crazy within itself. But to win a championship as a freshman must be hard. I don’t know much about sports.” I said honestly. “Yeah, she is the most popular player in America right now because she did that. Not to mention she has a girlfriend.” She looked at me as if I wanted the girl we were speaking about. She focused on me as if she was looking for a reaction.  “I take it you’re the girlfriend?” Alexis vigorously spat back defending me from her hurtful intention.  “Yes, I am.” She said proudly with a smirk looking dead at me.  I smiled back “That’s great. I bet you guys make a nice couple.” I was trying to be friendly but she didn’t seem like she cared.  “We are and nothing will break us up. So watch yourself. Logan and I are madly in love. You know the saying you’ll kill for the one you love right.” Ariel slightly threatened.  Alexis was about to pounce on her but I stopped her. “I’m not into girls so I’m sure you won’t have to kill anyone,” I said knowing she was directing it to me. I have no idea why but it seems she saw me as a threat. I cleared the air even though the girl from yesterday had me questioning that statement. Was I straight? I don’t know at this point because she’s been on my mind more than a guy has ever been.  Ariel gave me a fake smile. “Oh, honey I didn’t mean you at all I was just speaking in general. Plus I don’t think you’re her type anyway.” She said as she looked me up and down judging my appearance. I had on a basic t-shirt and some jeans. I didn’t have anything else because Alexis was changing my wardrobe and everything was being delivered tomorrow.  At that point, Alexis had enough of Ariel's shaded comments I could see my best friend getting pissed by the second. She grabbed my hand and spoke to Ariel. “We’re done here.” She took me and walked out of the gymnasium.  “What a f*****g b***h, I have no idea what her problem was today. Maybe her amazing girlfriend isn’t f*****g her good enough because she needs to f*****g relax.” Alexis said as we walked to our dorm.  “Lexi, it’s fine she was just slightly aggressive…” “Slightly? You call that slightly? Damn, she was so fuckable earlier before she became a full cunt towards you. Well, I’ll have to scratch her off my list.”  “List? You have a list? We haven’t been here a full day and you’re making a list?” I laughed.  “Hot girl summer stops for no one. Not even you Pookie. While you were sleeping I was in the lounging area of our dorm. Did you know this dorm is co-ed? There’s a lot of fine ass guys here. You would know that if you weren’t sleeping.”  I nudged her as we walked into the building “Man you’re such a player Lexi, you’re just outside breaking hearts when are you going to settle down. Whatever happened to the girl from the dinner you brought.”  “She like ‘miss perfect girlfriend having’ Ariel, she had a boyfriend. I played my role and kept it pushing. Plus I was worried about you. I didn’t even sleep with her that night. Which I slightly regretted. Never have I had s*x with a stripper.” She laughed.  “Lexi, you're so bad!” I laughed with her walking into our dorm.  “Hey that’s what they all say but they love it anyway.” She winked at me as she laid out onto our couch. Our dorm was huge. Ridiculously huge. It was like a two-bedroom apartment. We had a small living room with a small kitchen. Both me and Alexis had our one bedroom with a shared bathroom that had two sinks and one shower. There was a big fifty-five inch tv in our living room. Our bedrooms were slightly small but had room for a full-sized bed along with a nice desk and a personal closet with a dresser. I mean this is Grand Ridge. Everything about this place was you know, grand.  I went into the kitchen to look for something to cook. Lexi had our kitchen stocked with food this morning so we wouldn’t starve. “Hey, Lexi?” I called out to her.  “What’s up Pookie?”  “I just wanted to say thank you. I appreciate everything you’ve done. I really feel bad about you spending your money on me though. I just wanted you to know I appreciate it. Thank you. I love you so much. You’re the best player bestfriend I’ve ever had.”  “You’re welcome. And trust if it was me you would do the same. And as for your bestfriend, I’m the only one you got so, of course, I’m the best.” She winked at me laughing.  “How about I cook us some dinner. I’ll make your favorite. Cajun Chicken Alfredo.”  She moaned out loud. “Damn it, that sounds good. But I have a date tonight. Maybe tomorrow?” How does she have a date already?  “Alexis already? You have a date already???”  “Hey, hot girl summer right plus you told me to go settle down right. Don’t worry you’ll have my location and you’ll have my bank card just in case you need something.”  “Fine… I just wanted to show you how much your only bestfriend appreciates you. But go enjoy your date. I have a seminar that I might as well go to. Even though I didn’t want to go alone.”  “You sure I can cancel. He’ll be fine. I don’t want you walking out into the dark that late and coming home that late.” She went into overprotective mode.  “I’ll be fine Lexi. I promise to finally turn on my phone and send you my location. Go have fun, and no s*x on the first date.” I teased walking back to my room to get ready for this session.  “No promises on that honey. I’ll try not to. He’s fine as hell.” She shouted back. I love her so much.
