Dominos POV My worst fears of the day are unraveling in front of me. My father and my best friend both have appeared. Not only are they here, but they’re also here at the SAME TIME. As I’m watching out the window I noticed my father also has brought his new fiancé as well. s**t, I don’t think my mother knew about this. Hell, I didn’t know she was coming to my graduation either. I don’t have a problem with my father moving on. I just wish she wasn’t 10 years younger than him. She’s cool but again I don’t feel like he had to find someone not too far off from my age. I remember when he first told me about the engagement. He even asked for my permission. And told me way before he fully committed to her if I wanted him to try again with my mother he would for me. To be frank when they divorced it was a mess but it wasn’t as bad with them being together. All the yelling, screaming, my mother throwing things. Life at home became depressing.  It wasn’t until I finally just came out and suggested that they should get a divorce at the dinner table one night. Of course, my mother belittled me and she was right. I should stay out of her relationship. My dad took me seriously and heard me out. I knew they were happy so I knew it just had to stop. It’s not something I was happy about but it made my father miserable being still married to my mother. Now as I look at him from my window with his fiancé he looks happier than ever.  My dad, Lexi, and his fiancé were all approaching the front door at the same time. I think I should get to the door before my mother because she probably will just slam the door in their face. I raced down the stairs still in my pajamas and finally reached the front door. I opened it before my father could get the chance to knock.  “Daddy!” I smiled and quickly hugged him as if I hadn’t seen him in years. Call it what you want. I'm my father's baby girl. His only daughter, the only child at the current moment. Not saying I wouldn’t mind a sibling of course I would but of course, daddy is getting up there in age. He’s forty-five and he’ll be forty-six in August. Although age doesn’t matter if I want another sibling it’s gonna have to come from them.  “Serenity, as always it’s a pleasure. Your dress is beautiful!” I said while fully observing her dress. Her dress was a beautiful floral designed dress. It was off white and complimented her flawless and smooth copper tone skin. She wore her hair naturally, very curly, and blown out. Her hair to me was the best feature. It’s always full of life like she is.  The way it coils and how it always looked sleek and healthy. She was just a beautiful person inside and out. I’m happy my father found her and will be marrying her.  As I’m speaking to my father and Serenity I feel pressure coming from behind me. That tightened the room. That drove my father's smiling face to a passive expression. Which told me I knew who or what this ominous feeling is behind me. My mother.  I felt her approach to my side. She had her fake smile on and we all knew it. “Jonathon, you’re early too early we aren’t ready to go yet. So if you want to wait in the car.,” she said wickedly. As if him not being allowed in the house that she got from the divorce, our family house is a part of the rules. Even on my big day, she can’t stop this envious desire she has to make my father miserable. To this day she blames me for the divorce. And even though my father begged me to come with him. I just didn’t want to start over in a new high school. The divorce was finalized junior year and I didn’t want to start senior year new somewhere else. Daddy offered to buy me a car to even help me get to my same high school. But I knew that he left mom and I didn’t want my mother to think I left her too. She needed me more. If she would let go of her strong will to be negative and let all her weight off her shoulders she would be and feel better. The divorce changed her the most. She’s very overprotective not just of my future career. She has seemed to have planned everything with my love life too. She’s already planned my wedding with Jocari and yet I haven’t even thought of him in that lighting. She’s not controlling as most think she at least let me pick the colors of this wedding she wants.  Daddy looked down at me. He's huge. I'm tiny. I didn’t get that from him. But he looked me into my eyes as if he was apologizing for leaving me here with her. My mother isn’t a demon. But she is hurting even though she doesn’t want to admit it. “Iris, we do have a few things I need to go over with you. I’d rather do inside away from this humidity and in person.” Dad said ever so boldly. He said it with this passive-aggressive stance and tone.  Finally after what seemed like the world's longest death stare. Mother finally caved. “Fine, in the study. You should know where that still is. Or shall I lead you there?” “After you Iris, and yes I remember the layout of OUR house.” He said sarcastically. He looked down at me again and hugged me as if he was going into war. s**t might as well had been. Whatever this conversation is about sounds like Lexi will get away with whatever she is planning. My father started to walk into the house along with serenity. They followed my mother to the study and closed the door. I watched them walk into the office and quietly closed the door.  I felt someone crept behind me. “I wonder what’s that about?” A whisper startled me. I jumped further into the house creating distance between me and whoever. Suddenly I remember Alexis was here as well.  “You know for someone who cares for their best friend, you must want me to die of fright,” I said trying to slow down my breaths.  Lexi isn’t amused by my near-death experience. She was just focused on the energy that just left the room. She was more curious about what they could be talking about. She leaned against our couch. Still staring at the office door as if she forgot why she came here.  I tried to move to the stairs without breaking her focus. But if I was to go directly to the stairs she would notice. So I have to run up the stairs and frankly, I’m WAY too uncoordinated to sprint up the stairs. I trip over absolutely nothing all the time. I step on my own feet falling anytime at any moment. However, I think I can beat her to the room regardless of my curse of clumsiness. f**k it I’m going for it.  I planted my right foot down and with as much power as I could and I took off. I got the stairs and I knew if I looked back I would fall I just had to go for the goal which is to run to my room and lock the f*****g door. I could feel the pressure of her chasing me. I had some great distance between the two of us. I was going to make it! But that’s when my curse was fully activated. On the last step....the last damn step... is where the battle was lost... I started to fall not forward like a normal person. Oh no because normal is clearly beneath me. I fell backward as if my body had its gravitational pull. I fell back on my ass and started to slide back and down. I’m just defeated and if I would break something in the process I still would see it as a win of not having to put on whatever slutty outfit she’s going to make me wear. As I thought I’d finally won. Lexi breaks my tumble...  “Oh no, you’d thought if you broke something you’d get out of this huh? Domino I know you.”  She's right, I know when I’ve lost. I whimpered from the pain of my ass, our stairs even though carpeted still f*****g hurt.  I got up and looked at Lexi while dusting off my body. “You’re so determined to run when you know you’re a total klutz. Seriously, you think I would have you looking like the hoes at the Red Diamond?” She said laughing I could feel she felt insulted.  Wait how does she know what the girl from a ratchet strip club looks like. “Alexis, don’t tell me...” she looked at me with a grin like The Grinch makes when he snatched Christmas from the Whos.  “We can talk about that adventure when you get that ass in the room and I finally can show you what I can do.” She said as we both walked into my bedroom and closed the door.  I couldn’t wait. I needed to f*****g know now. “Alexis, are you bringing a f*****g STRIPPER TO OUR GRADUATION DINNER. With our f*****g parents?” I studied her as she completely ignored me and started to lay out all of the things she needed for our graduation. “ALEXIS IF YOU DO NOT ANSWER ME I'LL DO IT !” I said as I walked towards her. She knows very damn well what I mean. If you want to get Alexis to answer you. She won’t answer her middle name which she hates. But you’ll get a furious Alexis.  She finally paused and looked at me with irritation. She knew what I would say next if she didn’t answer the question. She walked up to me and met my aggressive gaze. “Wouldn’t you rather not want to know or would you rather become an accomplice? I mean you are my best friend. ride or die. But I didn’t think you wanted death this soon.”  “Alexis, are you suggesting a challenge? Now if that’s the case I’ll accept it. Answer me.” I said closing the spacing between us. We will see who will cave between us. That is a trait I got from both of my parents the will to never back down.  She laughed “Fine, yes Domino but she isn’t currently one. She’s off the pole. Well till later tonight.”  “Ew Lexi, that’s too much information. Are you paying her or something?” She was pulling the dress I’m going to assume is for me off the hanger.  “Now that just hurt my feelings Pookie, why would you think I would have to pay. Am I not good looking enough. My charms alone could make me a certified pimp.” She said while putting the makeup on the suitcase. Yes, a suitcase on my desk. “Do you want more details or a picture of her social or we ready for action?” She pulled out the chair from my desk and placed me down in front of the long mirror in my room.  “Lexi I still need to shower!” She groaned “Well hurry the hell up. Or we will be late.” *30 minutes later* I came back to my bedroom with Lexi ‘baking’ her face. She stops and looks at me and says “Well if your dad didn’t have your mom provoked downstairs I would say I’d be thrown out by now.”  She looks back into the mirror making sure she didn’t miss anything. And of course, she looks gorgeous. Like we were going to a party or fashion show. Her long black hair flowing, she looks like she curled it with a middle part that perfectly shaped her face.  I walked to my bed looking at my clothes that Alexis laid out. Seems as if she took the liberty to layout my bra but there aren't any panties... “Lexi honey looks like you forgot to get my underwear out as well.” She didn’t respond; she was working on her last eye wing. I proceeded to go through my drawer to grab some, she turned to me “You’re not wearing anything tonight so I suggest you just close that drawer.” She must have lost her mind. “Alexis, come on. Why? Just why?” I started to protest but she wasn’t having any of that. She sat me down in the chair to start my face and to figure out what to do with my hair.   *one hour later* “Damn girl, I’d date you. And I mean date you.” Lexi stated as she finished the last bit of makeup on my face. She spun me around and she was right. I look damn good. I have no idea how other girls do this every day. She turned my attention to the dress she pointed out. And ordered me to go put my clothes on.  I put on the dress it was an off the shoulder short dress and I didn’t need any bra at all Lexi got a perfect size. I looked at the tag. HOLY f**k this s**t is expensive. Even with rich parents, she didn’t have to drop almost a grand on me. I turned to Lexi. Amazed at her work she was happy as hell about her work. We heard a knock on the door.  “Hey honey, we need to get going. Can I come in? I have something for you.” It was daddy and I’m curious and nervous about what he’ll think of this dress. It wasn’t slutty at all, it was beautiful. I loved every second of it. It felt as if I was going to prom all over again yet this felt different. I didn’t want to lose this feeling. Although all this work for a gown to be placed over it. I knew that wasn’t the point of Lexi getting this outfit.  Daddy opened the door and looked at my dress. He looked surprised and happy at the same time. “You look, beautiful princess. I have a few things for you before we go over to the ceremony.” I came over looking at Lexi for shoes to wear but I noticed my dad had two boxes in his hand. “The first one is from Serenity. I saw her peak out the door frame leaning and she smiled sheepishly. I grabbed the box and sat on the bed. It was a pair of black Christian Louboutins. I gasped, I didn’t expect anything from her. I appointed my attention to her still standing in my door frame. I thanked her and tried them on. They were perfect. Daddy looked at me and smiled even bigger and this is from me. I stood up in my new red bottoms. He handed me the last box. I opened it. It was a Tiffany co. box. I looked inside and it was a set of earrings and a necklace. A graceful diamond silver necklace. Something you would promise to never take off. Looks like he engraved my name on it as well. I gave him a huge hug.  “Your mother is waiting downstairs with your last gift for now. it’s up to you if you want it now or later.” Daddy said as he pulled back from my embrace.  I took off the heels and grabbed Lexi. We walked down the stairs together and met my mom's gaze. She studied my dress and knew where and who. But she looked like she gave up on preaching today. “Nice dress miss Alexis.” She said darting her piercing light brown eyes to Lexi.  “Oh, you know what they say ma,” Lexi paused. “Devil wears Prada and well I guess we know what I’m wearing today,” Lexi said so boldly. I nudged her. My mother smiled at me “You, on the other hand, look beautiful Domino. I guess you’re growing too fast for me.” She stopped and handed me something in my hands. “Congratulations honey.” She handed me the car keys to my first car. An AUDI R8!  I may be girly in every category but my father and I share the same passion for fast cars. It’s my dream car. I ran towards her carefully not falling and gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek thanking her over and over.  “Congratulations baby girl. You're closer to your goal. I love you no matter what.” She said as she met my embrace. So far not a s**t show so good. Still have to graduate though.
