I spent three years in France, starting out in Paris. The awful weather there put me off the entire country right off the bat. After that, I started drifting all over the place. Let's be real, I wasn't getting jack squat out of my studies anyway, so I just threw in the towel on the whole study abroad thing. I bounced around like that for a couple of years, until out of nowhere I got a message from back home forcing me to fly back to Boston. My star professional manager was quitting. I'd left my dad's company entirely in that manager's hands this whole time. Now that he was bailing, I had no choice but to head back and hold down the fort myself. Me? I'm an artist. What the hell do I know about running a company? My brain thrummed and buzzed nonstop for the entire first week I was back.
