At the end though, he couldn’t. He couldn’t bear to just walk away from it all, even though he should have. In fact, it was a stupid idea to come here in the first place. It wasn’t a conscious decision at all, rather it was an irrational urge that pushed him to rush here like a half mad cow.
The nurses at the reception were thrusting paper after paper under his nose for him to sign, while his mind was elsewhere, busy wondering if she was still in pain.
“She is going to be fine.” The nurse that was helping him sort through the papers told him with a reassuring smile as she noted his divided attention. “And so will be the baby.”
