Alaric’s head was pounding when he awoke the next morning. Likely to be from all that alcohol he’d drank. He knew that he should have held off, but it had been the only thing to get him through the dreadful night. Through his hazy memories, parts of the evening started crawling back to him, drudging up emotions that hurt enough to make him want to reach for the nearest bottle and drink himself into oblivion again.
