23. Nicole’s Gun
Nicole’s backpack was empty of ropes, and Jeff refused to use the stairs down to street level, fearing zombie ambushes in the stairwell. After discussing it with Nicole, they decided to descend via the building’s exterior. Using the metal-barred security windows and wall-mounted AC units as climbing aids, they easily made their way down to the ground. Once there, they immediately sprinted towards the police station. The noise they’d made earlier might have drawn wandering zombies elsewhere, as they crossed the car park without encountering any danger. Their luck was holding! Inside the station’s front yard, Jeff secured the iron gate to prevent any zombies wandering in. Zombies were definitely inside the station building, but likely not in great numbers. Jeff and Nicole braced
