The morning air is thick with tension. The sun barely crests the horizon, casting a blood-red hue over the battlefield. The ground trembles beneath thousands of feet, warriors shifting in formation, waiting for the inevitable clash.
I stand beside Kyle, my mate, my king. My fingers tighten around the hilt of my sword as I watch Luke’s army approach like a storm on the horizon.
Dark energy pulses from their ranks unnatural, twisted, and wrong.
Luke has done something to his warriors. Even from this distance, I can sense the corruption clinging to them, a sickness woven into their very beings. He has gone too far and sacrificed too much.
Kyle's grip tightens around my waist, grounding me.
“This is it,” he murmurs.
I nod, swallowing the lump in my throat. “No turning back.”
