Everything was hazy. Orion didn't remember how he'd gotten home, only that he was in serious pain, the stab wound scorching hot no matter what Roland tried; none of it working.
He gritted his teeth through the agony, his vision unfocused. "Dawn," the word slurred out.
He could hear sound around him, voices, and movement, but everything was ringing. His heart palpitated against his ribs, his throat scratchy and dry, and when he tried to breathe her in, his nose failed to pick up her scent anywhere near him. f**k. He couldn't believe a stab wound could reduce him to such a state.
He gritted his teeth harder, his jaw cracking a little. "Where is Aurora!" he thought he growled out, but the words were incoherent.
